My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1015

Emily guessed that Isabella’s parents had no idea she had faked her own death. Otherwise, Isabella wouldn’t be looking at them with such intensity, as if she might never see them again.

After a moment, Isabella’s parents seemed to sense they were being watched and turned in her direction. Isabella’s expression flickered for a second before she composed herself, offering them a gracious, gentle nod.

They didn’t seem to recognize her face, looking slightly puzzled, but they clearly knew Benjamin Gomez, who stood beside her. A complex mix of emotions crossed their faces as they remembered he was their daughter’s ex-boyfriend. Their daughter was gone, yet here he was with a new girlfriend, and they looked happy.

After a moment’s hesitation, they decided to walk over and offer a formal greeting.

“Mr. Gomez, it’s been a long time,” Isabella’s mother said with a smile. She then looked at the unfamiliar woman by his side. “And this is…?”

“My girlfriend,” Benjamin said smoothly. “You can call her Juliana Silva.”

Isabella’s mother smiled and nodded at Juliana. “Ms. Silva.”

Looking at her parents, Juliana felt a wave of emotions so powerful it was hard to breathe. Her eyes and nose began to sting. The pain was sharp, forcing her to clench her fists. It felt like a giant hand was squeezing her heart, a blend of agony and regret that made her want to cry out and call them ‘Mom’ and ‘Dad’ one last time.

Isabella’s mother studied Juliana more closely. The young woman’s stare was strange. Though they were strangers, she looked at them with an unnerving familiarity, as if lost in a memory. As her mother looked into her eyes, she felt a sudden jolt.

That gaze was so familiar.

So incredibly familiar. She had only ever seen that look in her own daughter’s eyes. For a fleeting moment, she thought she was seeing the daughter she missed so dearly and almost reached out to embrace her.
