The more Andrew pushed Emily away, and the more self-conscious Emily seemed in front of her, the more satisfied Isabella felt. It was like watching everything fall perfectly into place.
Just as she expected, Andrew started to distance himself from Emily, and Emily slowly let him go. Isabella took full advantage of the fire incident, getting Andrew to help her with so many things. In the end, she got what she wanted. She married him, had a child, and Andrew kept his promise, treating her son as if he were his own. He cared for Dennis with genuine tenderness.
Sure, Andrew and Emily had their fair share of drama over the years, but no matter what happened, Andrew always stood by Isabella. When Emily suddenly disappeared and was gone for years, Isabella finally felt at ease. She and Andrew never grew closer as a couple, but she figured this was enough. Life could just go on like this.
Then Emily came back, suddenly famous in the capital. The three of them ran into each other again.
Only then did Isabella realize Emily had never really let her out of sight. Emily had been digging into her past and messing up her plans, all in secret. Isabella had tried to break into the entertainment industry with Leo’s new movie, but Emily managed to block her. She wanted to win an international piano competition, but Emily exposed her and forced her to drop out before the finals in Eldervale.
Isabella never expected Emily to find out about Matthew Ross, much less dig up so much evidence. Backed into a corner, Isabella turned to Benjamin Gomez for help. After the Matthew Ross disaster, she had no choice but to swallow her pride and beg Andrew.
That was when Andrew drew the line. He told her this was the last time he’d help. After this, whatever she thought he owed her from the fire would be done. She was on her own.
Isabella could barely believe how cold he was. She’d yelled at him, asking if he had fallen for Emily. Was that why he wanted nothing more to do with her?
Andrew didn’t answer. Instead, he asked her about Dennis. Would Dennis stay with him, or would she take the boy away?
At first, Isabella was determined to take Dennis with her. He was her real son, not Andrew’s. She was terrified that after she left, Andrew might treat Dennis badly, or that the Lane family would find out Dennis wasn’t really Andrew’s child and throw him out.
