My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1054

Emily leaned in, looking like she was really listening.

Elizabeth spoke gently, almost like she was coaching her. “If you truly don’t care about the Lane family or Andrew Lane anymore, you should be able to face them without flinching. No drama, no hiding. If you keep dodging him, everyone will see right through you. They’ll know there’s something going on between you and Andrew. If you really don’t care, just be polite and composed. Stand in front of Andrew like you did the first time you met him. Calm, collected, say something like…”

She straightened her back, softened her tone, and pretended to be Emily. “‘Mr. Lane, it’s been a while. I hope you recover soon.’”

Elizabeth lowered her hand and looked at Emily, her tone serious. “That’s how you show you’ve moved on. Keep it cool, keep it simple. That’s how you let him and everyone else see that it’s over, that he’s just a stranger now.”

She shook a finger with a little smile. “The more worked up you get, the more Andrew’s going to think you still care. He’ll think your feelings turned from love to hate, and that’ll just make him chase you harder.”

Emily looked thoughtful, her gaze turning inward.

Elizabeth nudged her again. “Does that make sense now?”

“So you want me to go see him?” Emily asked, her voice dry.

Elizabeth’s smile faded. “Is that what you think I mean?”

Emily just raised an eyebrow, her eyes saying, Really?

Elizabeth rolled her eyes. “Fine, sure, if that’s what you want to believe. Andrew did help us out at the resort. It’s only right to check on him. Otherwise, we’ll look like we have no manners.”
