My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1104

Emily couldn’t help laughing and gave Tristan a gentle pat on the back. “Keep dreaming.”

The elevator doors slid open, and they were greeted by a surprised gasp. A young woman stood waiting, her cheeks turning bright red as soon as she saw them.

Emily pressed her lips together and nudged Tristan’s back again. “Come on, time to get out.”

Tristan did as he was told, letting Emily lead him out. The girl outside kept her head low, clearly trying not to make eye contact.

They stepped into the hotel lobby. The main doors were wide open, and a chilly gust of air swept across the polished floor.

Emily stopped Tristan and started buttoning up his shirt. A hotel staff member, obviously following Steven Davis’s instructions, had been waiting with a coat draped over his arm. He hurried over and offered it to Tristan. “Mr. Davis, it’s cold tonight. Please wear this.”

Emily took the coat. Tristan leaned forward, obedient and quiet, his eyes shining as he watched her help him get dressed.

The waiter hesitated, glancing between them. “Mr. Davis, we’ve arranged a car to take you to the hospital. Would you like…?”

Tristan looked at Emily, waiting for her to decide. She finished buttoning up his coat and shook her head. “No need, thanks. I’ve already called my driver. He’s waiting outside.”

The waiter peeked out the door and spotted a black SUV pulled up to the curb.

He stepped aside. “Of course.”

Emily gave him a brief look, as if she recognized him from somewhere, but didn’t say anything. She simply helped Tristan into the waiting car.

Her driver, already in place, hit the gas as soon as the doors shut and headed straight for the nearest hospital.

In the back seat, Tristan slumped against Emily’s shoulder, wrapping his arms around hers. His eyes were closed, his lips slightly parted, warm breath ghosting over her skin.

Emily reached up to check his forehead, frowning. “You’re burning up.”

His skin was hot to the touch, while her hand felt cool in comparison.

Tristan struggled to keep himself together. He squeezed his eyes shut, fighting off the restless heat building inside him.

His muscles tensed. He pulled Emily’s hand down and clutched it tightly. “Emily…”

She looked down, and her gaze landed on a very obvious sign of his state. She froze for a moment, then quickly looked away.

Heat crept up her neck, and she turned to stare out the window as city lights blurred past. Her mind kept replaying that accidental glimpse, and she couldn’t help but think Tristan was… impressively built.

The car ride was quiet. Tristan, feeling safe next to Emily, finally let himself relax. But the moment he did, the effects of the drug came surging back, and Emily’s scent filled his senses, making the fire inside him burn even hotter.

He couldn’t stop noticing every little thing about her. The urge to reach for her was almost impossible to fight. Desperate, he pushed himself to the other side of the car, putting as much distance between them as he could.

Emily noticed and, thinking he’d just shifted, reached over to steady him.

Tristan gave her a bitter, helpless smile. He squeezed her hand, hard, as if trying to ground himself. “Don’t get too close. I don’t trust myself right now.”
