My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1169

Kevin tapped his fingers on the table. “I’ve set you up with the Gray family’s grandson this afternoon. Make sure you look presentable.”

Amelia’s face dropped. “Again? Why do I have to go on another blind date? I really don’t want to.”

Kevin’s tone was final. “You don’t get to decide. This one just got back from studying overseas and is about to start working at his family’s company. He’s twenty-eight, successful, young, everything you should be looking for. Meeting him isn’t going to hurt you.”

Amelia stabbed at her sausage, the annoyance clear in her movements. “You say that about every single guy you introduce me to.”

“This time it’s different. Just go and see for yourself.”

She knew there was no point arguing. Once her grandfather made up his mind, there was no getting out of it. “I already told you I’m seeing someone,” she mumbled under her breath. “Why do you keep setting these dates up for me?”

Kevin narrowed his eyes, thinking. “Is it that guy with the last name Miller?”

Amelia nodded. “Yeah.”

She wasn’t exactly thrilled about Tanner Miller, especially since he turned out to be friends with Emily Blair, but he was her go-to excuse for dodging arranged dates. Even though she’d mentioned Tanner to her grandfather, he still insisted on introducing her to other men.

“I looked into him,” Kevin said, his voice low. “The Miller family was respectable a few years back, but they’ve gone downhill. They’re not on our level. It’s fine if you want to go out with him, but don’t bring him home.”

Not that she ever planned to. Amelia would never seriously consider Tanner as marriage material, no matter what her grandfather said.

Still, she was annoyed by this sudden setup. She just nodded, not bothering to explain what she really thought.

After breakfast, Amelia settled on the sofa with Dennis to watch TV. Kevin was in his study on the first floor, practicing calligraphy, out of sight from the living room.

Amelia shot Dennis a look. He immediately jumped up, calling out for the remote. One of the maids hurried over and handed it to him.
