My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 1191

She was done with Tanner Miller. All the mixed signals, the half-hearted flirting, she wanted it over. Lately, on their dates, she’d acted bored out of her mind, hoping he’d finally get the message and leave her alone. But Tanner seemed completely clueless. If anything, he’d just gotten more enthusiastic.

It drove her crazy. A few days ago, she finally snapped at him and blocked his number.

Yesterday though, she remembered him for no good reason and, feeling a little reckless, unblocked him. They chatted for a bit, but her interest faded as quickly as it came, so she went back to ignoring him.

Of course, Tanner didn’t pick up on the vibe. He actually thought he’d done something wrong and was still trying to make it up to her.

Nothing had changed this time either. Amelia had zero plans to answer him. She just swiped his chat away and opened Hanley’s conversation instead.

Hanley’s message was simple. He’d just said “Hey” and added a cute cat sticker.

Normally, Amelia liked guys who were funny and quick with their words. But there was something about Hanley, this solid, quiet type, searching through his stickers just to find a cute cat and make her smile. It actually caught her attention.

She’d always pictured Hanley as the kind of guy who only used old-school smileys, or maybe just the default yellow ones. Honestly, she would have bet he was one of those people who sent that awkward smile emoji that everyone found passive-aggressive. She never expected him to pick something as adorable as a cat sticker.

Grinning, Amelia let herself forget about Isabella Austin for a while. She searched for a matching cat sticker and sent it back.

Hanley replied right away.

When she saw what he sent, she couldn’t help it. She started laughing, rolling across her bed with her phone in her hand.

They chatted for a few minutes. The whole time, she was smiling to herself, and all the while, Tanner kept blowing up her phone with messages she didn’t bother to read.

After a bit, Hanley said he had to get back to work, so she stopped messaging.
