My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 529

He glared at Emily Blair, his eyes full of wounded anger—frustrated, embarrassed, and on the verge of tears.

Normally, Tristan Davis swaggered around like he owned the place, nose in the air, acting as if he was too cool for anyone. If something went wrong, you half-expected him to throw out some melodramatic line like, “Well, that’s the end of the world.”

But now? He’d never worn an expression like this—like a sulky, pouty kid who’d just been wronged.

The look made something twist uncomfortably inside Emily. For a moment, she almost believed she’d actually done something to hurt him.

She blinked. “You heard that?”

Tristan’s face darkened even more as he bore down on her. “What’s that supposed to mean? You were planning to keep it from me? Emily, are you even human?”

He shot questions at her, each sharper than the last, his indignation raining down so hard that Emily could barely keep up. “Why are you so mad?” she asked, confused.

Why am I mad?

You really have to ask?

This isn’t just anger. I’m jealous!

But looking into Emily’s wide, innocent eyes, all he could do was clench his jaw. His irritation swelled in his chest, stuck somewhere between a shout and a sob.

Through gritted teeth, Tristan muttered, “You’re going to be the death of me.”

Emily frowned, still at a loss.

“Emily Blair.”

Andrew Lane’s voice cut through the tension.

She snapped to attention. “Mr. Lane, are you ready to talk now?”

His dark eyes flickered. “You—”

“Waaah—!”

Before he could finish, a piercing child’s scream rang out from inside the house, shrill and desperate in the quiet night.

Emily’s heart jumped. She saw Andrew’s expression change instantly—anxious lines appearing on his forehead.

It didn’t take her long to realize: that was Dennis Lane.
