“For example?” Elizabeth Wilson asked.
Emily Blair replied, “Set a trap and lure them out.”
Elizabeth raised her eyebrows. “You’ve got a lead?”
“More accurately, Tristan does,” Emily said, glancing at Tristan Davis. “I’ll see if I can catch him. You can stop investigating for now.”
After hanging up, Tristan made a smug tsking sound, folding his arms. “See? Having me work for you this month has paid off, hasn’t it?”
Emily shot him a dry look. “Considering I had to trade my reputation for it, of course it has.”
Ever since Emily agreed to pretend to be Tristan’s girlfriend, things had spiraled out of control.
It wasn’t just the Davis family talking. Even people at the office had started whispering.
Tristan caught the implication right away and frowned. “Why do you sound so annoyed?”
Emily arched an eyebrow, her expression unreadable.
Tristan looked even more put out, his jaw tightening. “Are you seriously complaining about me?”
Emily tried to keep a straight face, but couldn’t help laughing. “Would I dare?”
He still looked annoyed as he turned away, huffing, “You’d better not.”
Emily bit back another smile.
She picked up her office phone and called her secretary in.
Her secretarial staff included six people, with Donna Thomas as the chief. Normally, Donna handled most of Emily’s affairs, but after the Ryan Cox situation, Emily had told her to take a few days off. The other secretaries had stepped in to cover.
Emily handed the document she’d been reviewing to the secretary. “Have this copied and circulated. Post the notice on the company site as well.”
The secretary nodded, scanning the pages. Her expression shifted.
“Ms. Blair, are we pulling out of the White Rabbit Project?”
