My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 630

“Is that you?”

The server held up his phone, the screen aglow with a news article about Vertex International’s latest breakthrough—a company owned by none other than Emily Blair.

Front and center was a photo snapped at the press conference: Emily in a sharp, tailored suit, gaze fixed on the crowd, but her face turned squarely toward the camera. Every feature was clear as day.

Beneath the photo, her name and a brief introduction.

The server’s voice trembled with excitement. “You’re Emily Blair? The Emily Blair from Vertex International? The CEO?”

Before Emily could answer, another voice cut in.

“Emily Blair?!”

She turned to see the same server leading Rose Ward out from the kitchen.

Rose’s eyes were wide in shock, her voice unsteady and a little too loud. “You’re Emily Blair?! But I thought you were—”

—Scott Clark.

The server handed the phone to Rose, seeking confirmation. “Look, it’s her. Just like in the news.”

Rose took the phone, staring at the photo, her expression flickering.

She’d heard Emily Blair’s name more times than she could count. She’d seen her photos, watched her interviews. Five years ago, at the Starlight Piano Competition, Emily Blair and Isabella Austin had made headlines with their explosive rivalry.

Back then, Rose had been Isabella’s ghostwriter, closely following every twist and turn. She knew exactly how it had all played out—and how Isabella’s PR campaign had been ruthlessly aimed at destroying Emily’s reputation.

As the person who had written pieces for Isabella, Rose knew just how wronged Emily had been. But five years had passed. Emily Blair was little more than a distant memory—and Rose hadn’t recognized her until now.

A tangled mix of emotions churned inside her.

Emily leaned against the counter, perfectly calm. “That’s right. So, can we talk?”

Rose drew a slow, shaky breath. “Fine.”

She shoved the phone back into the server’s hand.

“Ms. Blair—” The server suddenly piped up, stopping Emily before she could leave.

She paused. “Yes?”

He was a handsome young man, cheeks flushed, eyes bright with mischief. “Emily, I don’t want to work hard anymore.”
