My Great Escape Led Me to You (Emily Blair) novel Chapter 852

“Don’t be shy, Emily Blair. You need to be brave and face your own feelings.”

Emily gave her a wry smile. “Do you have nothing better to do? I’ve got a mountain of work here—care to help lighten the load?”

“Oh, no thanks. I’m swamped as it is.”

With a mischievous grin, Elizabeth Wilson waved a folder and sauntered out of the office.

Emily glanced down at the data on her screen, frowning in concentration. After a minute, her gaze drifted to the lounge area in her office.

Whenever Tristan Davis spent time in her office, he usually claimed the guest sofa as his personal workspace.

On slow days, he’d kick back, cross his legs, and play games on his phone. But whenever clients were around, he’d stick close to her side—so much so that more than once, people had mistaken him for her assistant.

Unbidden, memories of those moments flickered through Emily’s mind.

She was lost in thought when a knock at the door snapped her back to the present.

“Come in.”

She hadn’t expected Albert Rivera.

Emily gestured for him to sit. “Please, have a seat.”

Taking the chair across from him, she said, “So, Mr. Rivera, what brings you here today?”

Albert looked immaculate in his tailored suit and gold-rimmed glasses, the very picture of polite sophistication. “I’m here to propose a partnership, Ms. Blair.”

“I’m listening.”

He explained, “Summit Financial is looking to expand its market. Our current software can’t keep up with our clients’ evolving needs. After a thorough review, our leadership decided to launch a new financial platform here in Eldervale—one that covers both existing and emerging requirements. We’ve evaluated several firms, and yours stands out. I wanted to see if you’d be interested in collaborating.”

He nodded to his assistant, who placed a folder on Emily’s desk.

“These are the details,” Albert said. “Please, take a look.”

Emily lifted the folder in her hand. “A business proposal. It’s a big one.”

Without hesitation, she offered Tristan the documents. “Want to take a look?”

His expression softened. “You trust me that much?”

Emily smirked. “Are you going to read it or not?”

Tristan couldn’t help but admit he liked being trusted by her. He reached out and took the folder. “Of course I’ll read it.”

Once he finished, Tristan nodded approvingly. “It’s a solid project. We should go for it.”

“Great minds think alike.”

Side by side, the two of them headed back into the office.
