Andrew rested his head on the back of the sofa and turned to face her. “You think I’m harassing you?”
“What else would you call it?” Emily shot back with a cold laugh. “Do you think your behavior has been honorable?”
The anger simmering in her chest rose to a boil, threatening to consume her reason. The past rushed back like a flood—all the tears and pain she had suffered because of this man. He had once treated her with disdain and ridicule, and now he was putting on this act. Did he really think she was his to command?
“I don’t care what you want,” she said, her words tumbling out in a rush. “Just stay away from me. The best thing for both of us is to leave each other alone. Don’t come near me again.”
“Stay away from you?” he murmured.
Emily grabbed her glass and took another large swallow. She heard him chuckle beside her. “I’m afraid I can’t do that.”
She was tempted to hurl the glass at him. Forcing down the rage burning inside her, she said, “Mr. Lane, you’re handsome and wealthy. You can have anyone you want. Why are you bothering me?”
His next words made her jump to her feet.
“Break up with Tristan Davis.”
Emily glared down at him, her jaw tight. “You’re seriously sick. You should go get your head checked.”
Andrew’s dark eyes looked calm, but deep within them was a terrifying, chaotic vortex that threatened to pull her in. It was the look of a man who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted.
