Elizabeth Wilson's eyes lit up. "So, I was right?"
Emily Blair clicked her tongue, a flicker of irritation in her eyes.
Knowing how much Emily despised anything to do with her past, Elizabeth quickly backpedaled. "Hey, hey, don't worry. I'm not going to help Andrew Lane, and I'm certainly not on his side. So don't take it out on me, okay?"
"What are you talking about?" Emily asked, her tone flat.
Elizabeth’s eyes darted around mischievously. "Let me break it down for you."
"Break what down?" Emily asked.
"Andrew Lane's motives, of course," Elizabeth declared.
Emily paused, her curiosity piqued. "Go on."
Elizabeth stroked her chin, her eyes narrowing thoughtfully. "Okay, look. Isabella Austin just passed away, right? So now Andrew's a widower, and he's probably feeling lonely. He's looking for some... comfort."
"What on earth are you talking about?" Emily said coolly.
"Don't interrupt me," Elizabeth said with mock seriousness. "He's lonely, so naturally, he starts thinking about you. He's wallowing in grief, and the more he thinks, the more he regrets how he treated you in the past. Now that his wife is gone, he's free, and he's lonely. He wants to see if he can win you back."
"And here's the key: he was always torn between you and Isabella. You were his first love, and she was this unforgettable flame. Now that his first love is gone, he’s turning to the unforgettable one as a replacement. It’s just like before. When Isabella wasn't in the picture, he came looking for you. The moment she came back, he left."
