Rebekah felt a blush creep up her neck at the praise. "You said you're leaving. Why?"
"The company is sending me abroad for advanced training. I probably won't be back for a long time."
"Can I still talk to you about design?"
"Of course."
…
With the air cleared, the tension between them dissolved. Their relationship shifted from teacher and student to something more like friends. The gloom that had settled over Rebekah from the online attacks began to lift.
After saying goodbye to Basil, she was about to hail a cab back to the estate when she saw a luxury car pull up in front of a nightclub across the street. Jensen, dressed in a perfectly tailored black suit, stepped out of the passenger side.
Rebekah's eyes widened. The car was a Maybach that cost well over seven figures. How could a gig worker like Jensen afford to ride in something like that?
As she watched, a woman got out of the driver's seat. She was also in a black suit, with sharp black and gold stilettos and a chic, short haircut. She radiated the aura of a powerful executive and looked to be in her thirties. Together, they walked into the club.
Rebekah stared after them. Had Jensen become someone's kept man?
Inside, the thumping music immediately grated on Jensen's nerves. "What kind of deal requires a meeting here?"
"Where do you think you're going, you bitch? Running away because you have a guilty conscience?" Sienna sneered. "First you steal my boyfriend, then you injure my sister-in-law so she can't compete. How can someone as slutty and vile as you even exist?"
Rebekah fixed her with a cold stare. "Why don't you use your brain for a second? I don't even know your boyfriend. Why on earth would I want to steal him?"
"Maybe you're just a desperate cougar who likes younger guys. Or maybe you just did it to spite me. A person like you is capable of anything."
Rebekah sighed. It was pointless to argue. "I don't have time for this."
She tried to walk around Sienna, but Sienna grabbed her arm.
