"Not so fast. You and I have a score to settle."
Sienna started dragging Rebekah toward a private room on the second floor, which was much quieter than the main hall below. Sienna was surprisingly strong, and with her friends helping, Rebekah couldn't break free. Just as Sienna reached for the door handle, Rebekah saw her chance. She yanked hard on Sienna's hair.
Sienna cried out in pain and let go. One of her friends immediately grabbed Rebekah's hair, but Rebekah pulled a can of pepper spray from her purse and unleashed it on the group. The girls shrieked, clutching their eyes as they dropped to the ground.
Rebekah bolted.
"You bitch! You fight dirty!" Sienna's curses echoed behind her, spurring Rebekah to run even faster. She was glad she always carried something for self-defense. Sienna might just be a teenager, but she was a spoiled brat who ran with a rough crowd. This was not the place for a direct confrontation.
As she rounded a corner, heading for the stairs, she caught a glimpse of someone emerging from a nearby room. Broad shoulders, narrow waist, an air of quiet confidence. It was Jensen.
He felt her intense stare and turned, his eyes meeting hers. A flicker of pleasure crossed his face before he noticed the pepper spray in her hand, and his expression hardened. He strode over to her.
"What are you doing here?"
Rebekah looked him over. His suit was still impeccable, but she could smell a woman's perfume on him. Biting her lip, she felt too embarrassed to admit she had followed him. "Just… checking it out. Are you here alone or with friends?"
"Yeah, I mean, look at her. She's gorgeous. If you hadn't said she was older, I'd think she was our age."
Hearing her friends praise her enemy sent Sienna into a rage. "You pack of idiots! Shut up before I gouge your eyes out!"
Terrified, the guys fell silent and redirected their frustration toward Rebekah. As they started to advance, Jensen stepped in front of her.
"Hey, pretty boy," Sienna sneered, "you can do better than this murderer. With your looks, you could have anyone you want."
