She had believed that after all those years together, Benjamin's concern and love for her had at least a shred of sincerity.
Now she knew it was all a lie.
He hadn't even treated her like a human being.
The tears she had held back finally fell. Each blow from Justin's bat was agonizing, but this revelation tore open old wounds that had never truly healed.
Just as despair threatened to consume her, the door was kicked open.
A furious, unfamiliar voice roared, "You're dead!"
The bodyguards holding her suddenly let go, and she crumpled to the ground. Justin hadn't landed many hits, but each one was excruciating.
She watched as a ridiculously handsome man single-handedly took down Justin and his guards. They didn't stand a chance.
Rebekah propped herself up, staring at the man. He looked familiar.
Rory, not yet satisfied, grabbed the baseball bat and landed a few blows on Justin, carefully avoiding any vital areas but ensuring maximum pain. When he was done, he turned to Rebekah, his eyes filled with heartache.
"Are you okay?" he asked, crouching beside her, his gaze taking in her injuries.
It took Rebekah a few seconds to place him. "Rory?"
Rory's face lit up. "You know me?"
His older brother had been the one in contact with their sister, and he hadn't had a chance to tell her about the family. Rory had assumed she didn't know who her four brothers were. He was thrilled she recognized him.
Rebekah was frozen. Even Rory was stunned.
*Was this old man crazy?* The little sister his family had finally found couldn't possibly be the Hawthorne's long-lost daughter. Besides, the Hawthornes didn't have a lost daughter.
Rebekah took the report. It showed a DNA match between her and a man named Orion Hawthorne.
"Orion is your father," Old Mr. Forrester explained. "He's the chairman of the Hawthorne family."
Rebekah glanced at Faye, who met her gaze with calm, unreadable eyes, as if this was all part of her plan. Faye offered a friendly smile.
Before Rebekah could speak, Rory scoffed. "Shouldn't you pick a better time for a family reunion? Can't you see what just happened here?"
