My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 166

Rebekah turned to see the handsome, concerned face of Rory Powell. Of course. He was here today as a guest of the school.

No one had expected Rory to intervene. In a situation like this, most people would have kept their distance. Why would a massive celebrity risk getting involved?

"Rory Powell is defending her? Is there more to this story?"

"He's a movie star. Getting involved is the last thing he should do. Why would he take her side?"

"Well, this just got interesting…"

The crowd, having forgotten their fear, was now buzzing with excitement. A murder accusation, a high-society scandal, and now a celebrity intervention… it was a feast of drama.

Candice was just as shocked as everyone else.

"Mr. Powell, this has nothing to do with you," she said, an edge of panic in her voice. "As a public figure, it would be best for you to stay out of it."

Rory looked at her, his hands in his pockets. "It's because I'm a public figure that I can't just stand by and do nothing."

Candice couldn't understand his motive. No matter how this turned out, he would be at the center of the controversy. His fans would defend him, but the haters would have ammunition for years. It was a no-win situation for him. Why was he doing this? Was it for Rebekah?

"Mr. Powell, you don't even know my sister. Are you sure you want to risk your reputation defending her?" she pleaded, hoping he would see reason.

But Rory didn't even look at her again. He turned his attention to Benjamin, who stood by, his face a thunderous mask.

"Mr. Forrester, if I'm not mistaken, this woman is your wife, isn't she? Yet you haven't said a single word in her defense. What's the matter? Do you actually believe she used your power and influence to commit these acts?"

"Yes, I thought that was odd, too."

The conversation had shifted from a criminal accusation to a juicy domestic drama.

Benjamin and Candice's faces flushed with anger.

"Watch your mouth, Mr. Powell!" Benjamin snapped. "You're a public figure. You should know better than to spread baseless rumors. When the police get here, I can just as easily have you charged with slander."

The viewers in the livestream, seeing their idol being attacked, flooded the chat.

'That bastard threw his own wife under the bus, and now he has the nerve to threaten our Rory?'
