My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 196

It had been two weeks since Rebekah left the Forrester estate. In that time, she hadn't contacted anyone from the family. On the day she left, she had meticulously erased every trace of her presence.

When Shawn Forrester came home from school that day, he felt a strange sense of emptiness. It felt like he hadn't seen Rebekah in a very long time.

When the maid asked if he was hungry, he answered almost instinctively, "Make me some of that healthy porridge." He remembered asking the kitchen staff to learn how Rebekah made it.

The maid nodded and went to the kitchen.

Shawn then started rummaging through the snack cabinet in the living room. It was a large, wall-mounted cabinet filled with treats just for him. Before, Rebekah would always stock it with homemade snacks. But since she and his father had started fighting about the divorce, the snacks hadn't been replenished.

Today at school, one of his friends had asked for the little cookies Rebekah used to make, and he had promised to bring some tomorrow. But when he looked in the cabinet, they were gone.

He stormed into the kitchen in a huff. "I want my cookies! Make them now! I have to bring them to my friend tomorrow."

The maid, startled by his sudden entrance, quickly nodded. "Yes, Young Master."

Shawn, mollified, went back to the living room, sat down, and started munching on a bag of chips from the cabinet, his little legs swinging. These were the kinds of snacks Rebekah always told him to eat less of. He found her so annoying. Ms. Candice was much better; she never cared what he ate or what he played with. If Ms. Candice were his mom, he would be so much freer.

The thought eased the frustration that had been building in his chest.

But when the maid brought out a bowl of porridge that tasted strange and a plate of cookies that looked completely different, Shawn's face instantly clouded over, his expression as stern as his father's when he was angry.

The maid stood there, trembling. "Y-Young Master."

"Who wants her back?" Shawn muttered. "I want Ms. Candice to be my mom…"

"Shawn!" Benjamin's voice was sharp again.

Shawn's head drooped, and he didn't dare argue further.

"This is between adults. It's not your place to interfere. Rebekah is your mother. Even if you don't like her, you can't deny that fact."

Shawn looked up at his father. "Dad, does that mean Ms. Candice can't be my mom?"
