My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 56

Chapter 56

Chapter 56

The sudden appearance of Old Mr. Forrester caused Benjamin’s bravado to deflate.

Seizing the opportunity, Rebekah wrenched her arm free and quickly stepped back, putting distance between them.

Benjamin’s hand was suddenly empty. He clenched his fist, a hollow feeling echoing in his chest, as if one day Rebekah would slip away from him just like this, for good.

Seeing his great-grandfather’s anger, Shawn ran to his side to tattle on his mother.

“Great-Grandfather, Mom went out to meet a pretty boy! That old hag dressed up all fancy; she must have been meeting a man. She betrayed Dad! She doesn’t deserve to be my mother!”

Candice’s eyes darted to Rebekah’s face. The makeup was subtle, but on Rebekah’s flawless, porcelain skin and sharp features, it was striking. Her eyes were both cold and captivating, making her more beautiful than any movie star. A fire of jealousy ignited within Candice. She should have had someone scar that face in prison.

Rebekah remained calm, a bitter irony settling in her heart. The more she had once adored her son, the deeper her disappointment now ran. She said nothing.

It was Old Mr. Forrester who spoke, his face like stone. “Is that how a son should behave? Have you forgotten every lesson you’ve ever been taught? If I ever hear you slander your mother like that again, you will spend the rest of the day in the study reflecting on your actions!”

His little face puffed up in defiance. “You’re taking her side, Great-Grandfather! I’m never talking to you again!” With that, he turned and ran.

“Shawn!” Candice called after him, but he didn’t stop, disappearing into the garden. She looked from Rebekah to the old man. “Mr. Forrester, I know I’m not part of the family, but I have to say something. If my sister hadn’t done something to provoke suspicion, Shawn wouldn’t talk about his mother that way. You shouldn’t take your anger out on a child.”

Then she hurried off after Shawn.

Benjamin’s eyes were cold. “Are you happy now, Rebekah? You’ve managed to upset everyone.” He glanced at her before starting to follow the others.

“Stop!” Old Mr. Forrester’s authoritative voice froze him in place. The old man’s face was pale, and he let out a hacking cough.

Rebekah rushed to his side. “Grandpa, are you okay?”

Benjamin quickly returned to support him. Despite the daily medicinal broths, Old Mr. Forrester
