My Husband's Betrayal My Brothers' Revenge (Rebekah) novel Chapter 55

Chapter 55

“An interview? What could you possibly interview for? With your crippled hands and feet, what kind of work could you possibly do?”

Hearing his condescending words, Rebekah let out a cold laugh. “You, of all people, should know exactly how my hand got this way, shouldn’t you?”

Her words sent a jolt of panic through him. *Does she know something?*

Suddenly, a child’s voice, laced with scorn, cut through the tension. “Don’t tell me you interviewed for a drawing job. Those ugly scribbles of yours are worse than what I can do. Were you trying to make a fool of yourself?”

“You should just accept that you’re useless and go back to being a housewife.”

Shawn and Candice had walked over. He continued his verbal assault without mercy. After days of his insults, Rebekah had grown numb. Hearing them now, she felt nothing but a deep, tragic sadness-sadness for ever marrying Benjamin, and for ever giving birth to Shawn.

Candice knelt and put a comforting hand on Shawn’s shoulder, feigning concern. “Shawn, you shouldn’t talk to your mother like that. Her hand and leg are injured. She must feel very insecure, which is why she’s acting out. You should have some sympathy for her.”

Shawn pouted up at Candice. “But she can’t embarrass the Forrester family just because she’s insecure! She’s a housewife, but she keeps running around town making a scene. It’s so humiliating!” He wasn’t going to feel sorry for a bad mother like her.

Benjamin walked over and handed the tumbler to Candice. “You said you were thirsty. I made you some tea. It’s good for you this time of the month.”

‘Thank you, Benjamin,” Candice said, blushing as she took it. She shot a triumphant, provocative glance at Rebekah.

Rebekah sneered internally. He even remembered Candice’s menstrual cycle. Their

‘brother-in-law, sister-in-law” relationship was certainly special. But she had no interest in watching their little family drama unfold.

She turned to leave.

“Shawn is talking to you,” Benjamin called out, stopping her. “Aren’t you even going to respond? What kind of mother are you?”

Candice let out a small gasp. “Oh, sister, I think I saw you leaving this morning, and you looked so happy. And you’re wearing makeup today. Did you really go for an interview, or were you meeting someone?”

Her words immediately made Benjamin think of the pretty boy from the gala. His face darkened. He grabbed Rebekah’s arm, his voice laced with fury. “You went to see that gigolo again, didn’t you? Rebekah, how could you be so shameless? We’re not even divorced, and you’re already cheating on me?”
