My Luna Became An Alpha After I Rejected Her novel Chapter 36

Chapter 36

་་

Evening settled in as Cassia stood before her mirror, preparing for the welcome party. Downstairs, Arthur was already dressed, waiting with Damien.

Cassia’s reflection stared back at her. Her hair cascaded in soft curls over her shoulders, makeup subtle yet flawless, her skin glowing. The delicate mist of her expensive perfume lingered in the air, the scent of power and wealth.

Her fingers brushed over the burgundy gown hugging every curve. She looked like a goddess.

Tonight, after seven years, she would see Aiden. The man who once tried to kill her. She could already imagine the look on his face when he realized she was alive, and that his pack’s future now rested in her hands.

She would make him crawl. Beg. But before that, she had to find her parents. Were they truly in the hospital? Or had Aiden orchestrated their disappearance?

At the thought of Evelyn, tears burned her eyes, but she forced them back. She had to be strong.

Cassia slipped her phone into her purse, gave herself one last measured look in the mirror, and walked out. Her heels clicked against the stairs as she descended with grace, every step commanding power.

On the couch below, Arthur and Damien were laughing together. Cassia’s lips curved softly. Her heart always swelled when she saw Arthur happy; it was a joy only mothers understood.

Arthur’s head lifted. His eyes widened, and his face lit up. “Mommy!”

Damien turned, and froze. His jaw slackened as his gaze roamed over her. Cassia felt the heat of his stare, her skin prickling under it.

“You… you look beautiful,” he murmured, voice rough. “No, beautiful isn’t enough. You’re breathtaking.”

Cassia’s cheeks warmed, but she steadied her tone. “Thank you. You look good too.”

He wore a sleek black suit, his presence magnetic. Their eyes locked, tension coiling between them, the bond tugging. Damien’s wolf purred in satisfaction. To him, this was his mate, radiant, undeniable.

Cassia couldn’t explain the strange rush in her chest, but she looked away quickly, grounding herself.

Then Arthur stepped forward, breaking the moment. “How about me, Mommy?”

Cassia’s gaze softened. Her son stood in his little suit, impossibly charming. His brown eyes gleamed, his smile so familiar. For a moment, her breath hitched. Aiden.

Arthur wasn’t just similar, he was his father’s reflection, a doppelgänger. The mystery of how he had inherited Aiden’s every feature never stopped haunting her.

She bent down, straightening his suit, brushing his hair gently back. “You look handsome, my darling. Perfect,”

Sofia’s chest swelled. For the first time in their marriage, Aiden treated her like a queen. His apology was real. He truly wanted to fix things. She smiled to herself, already imagining how the night would end, in his arms, in their bed, with her carrying his next child.

Aiden closed the door after her and circled back. But his expression hardened again as he turned to James.

“Did you call my father?”

“Yes,” James replied. “He’ll be there.”

“And my mother?”

James hesitated. “She’s… worse. I’m not certain how much longer she has. But now that Dr. Cassia is here, she can begin treatment tomorrow.”

Aiden exhaled heavily, a shadow crossing his face. He slid into the driver’s seat, started the engine, and pulled away.

James followed closely behind in his own car, his eyes lingering on the taillights ahead.
