Chapter 50
Nicholas
Ziora. I repeat the name silently. Ziora. I open my eyes in disbelief. Can it be?
“What’s the color of your wolf?” I ask. Her eyes squint a little in thought,
“Er, I’m not sure because I’ve never shifted before, but I think it’s cream or silver,” she answers.
Her wolf’s name shares the exact name of my wolf friend in The Beyond. It is the prettiest wolf I’ve known since I was a teenager! We bonded as soon as we saw each other. Ziora is a pretty wolf with silver sparkling fur, three purple tails, and a silver crescent mark on her forehead. Could it be that she is Apphia’s counterpart?
‘It could make sense since our mate is a marked wolf, and Ziora is special too,‘ Nico says.
‘I didn’t think anything of it because there are all sorts of creatures in the beyond, but Ziora being Apphia’s wolf makes sense,‘
‘If they are one, we knew our mate before meeting her. That explains why she was able to mind link and ask for help that night.‘
I’m still trying to process. Indeed, everything makes more sense. I smile and hold her hands in excitement, but she flinches. I release them–my lycan whimpers.
“Sorry,” Apphia murmurs.
I kiss her hand gently. Fuck! I’m over the moon. This woman is mine. She has always been even before we met. Our inner counterparts felt it and bonded in the spirit.
“Okay, let’s contact Ziora.”
I focus and instruct Apphia on meditating, but as minutes pass, I can feel her frustration at the lack of results. I feel my spirit leave my body and go into the beyond realm. I search all over for Ziora, but I
don’t find her.
I finally go back into my body and open my eyes. A beautiful but sad smile welcomes me.
“I couldn’t feel her. It’s just pitch darkness, or maybe I don’t know how to do it properly,” she says.
“I’m sure she’s just trapped somewhere. I couldn’t find her either, despite searching aggressively. But don’t worry, I’ll try again,” I assure her. She nods, but I notice tears are threatening to fall from her eyes.
“Don’t cry, Apphia,” I tell her, but it’s too late. Tears fall from her eyes.
I wipe her tears and help her to her feet, wrapping her in my arms. She gasps, and I step away.
“What is it?”
“I felt my wolf when you hugged me,” she says, eyes wide. “I usually feel her when you are close. That’s why I was so sad I couldn’t just now,”

I smile at her, “I told you I’m a magician.”
“Indeed,” she gives me a new bright smile full of hope. The more time we spend together, the more Ziora will appear.
“Let’s have breakfast,” I tell her. She must be hungry, and I am, too. We have been in the garden for three hours.
I watch as she slowly eats in the intimate dining room, still in thought. I can’t help but be entranced by her every move.
Apphia is the epitome of nature and beauty. I’ve never met anyone so soft, even after what she’s been through. When she smiles, she lights up the whole room.
She suddenly stops eating and turns her gaze towards me.
“You’re not eating. Do you not like your food?” she asks. I get to my feet and kiss her forehead, which comes naturally to me these days.
“I should go to work now. I’ll see you later.” Without waiting for her response, I walk away, not looking back. I let out a breath when those two doors closed. I need her, goddess. I want her.
Apphia
I didn’t see Nicholas for days after he abruptly left me in the dining room. I was missing him a lot.
There is a knock on my door early in the morning. I put on my robe and head to answer it. Drake is standing at my door in only shorts.
“Good morning?” he asks. I yawn, still a little tired from sleeping late last night.
“Good morning, Drake,”
“Are you ready for the first training day?” he asks, and I nod.
“I’ll change,”
I go to the closet and change into a workout outfit. It’s the first time I’m wearing one. The black leggings are pretty comfortable, but the black sports bra is tight, which makes me uncomfortable, so I throw on a black jacket.
I wear my sneakers and put my hair in a tight ponytail before joining Drake in the hallway.
We go to the gym downstairs. The gym is massive, featuring rows of machines and punching bags. Two people are working out, one on a bike and the other lifting weights. They stop when they notice us, bow, and leave quietly.
“Ready?” he asks.
“Have you shifted into your wolf yet?” he asks.
“No,” he nods.
