No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 118

After a brief pause, York added, "You know Eddy has been spoiled since he was a kid. He's defiant and fiercely protective. He's not afraid to get physical with me, so of course he wouldn't be polite to Ann."

Peter stubbed out his cigarette and patiently tried to reason with him. "Look, York, the Watkins family are all like that—all temper and no substance. Claudia is willful and dramatic. Besides her looks, she can't hold a candle to Ann. Just divorce her and let her get as far away from you as possible."

York turned to Peter, his expression turning thunderous.

But Peter wasn't finished. "Ann is a saint, a goddess. She's free of worldly desires and has no ill intentions. You get the mother and the son. What are you waiting for?"

York rested his forearms on the railing, leaning forward slightly.

"Your reverse psychology won't work on me," he said. "I'm not divorcing Claudia."

Peter felt there was no point in continuing the conversation. "Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. If you can get Claudia to come home for the holiday, then you can talk to me about 'not getting divorced.'"

After Peter left, York stood alone on the balcony for a long time.

He and Claudia had known each other for over twenty years. She had never been disrespectful to him, not even as a joke.

Even when he hadn't come home for a month because of Ann, she hadn't laid a hand on him.

But tonight, she had slapped him.

York's fingers lightly touched the cheek Claudia had struck.

His mind was filled with the cold, resolute look in her eyes.

Sleepless, York wandered the apartment deep in the night.

He didn't know what he was looking for, or what he hoped to find.

His feet wouldn't stop moving, and his mind couldn't find peace.
