The small apartment felt cramped as the Fergusons entered the living room.

Jessica patted Claudia's shoulder reassuringly while Felix showed the Ferguson elders to their seats.

York walked straight to Eddy, his eyes on the boy's left wrist. "How's your wrist recovering? Do you need a follow-up at the hospital?"

Eddy glared at York with hostility. He bent down to grab a small stool, but Claudia stopped him.

She pushed her brother toward his room. "They're here to discuss the divorce. Just stay in your room."

Eddy nodded, suppressing his anger.

Claudia closed the door, shot a look at York, and walked toward the living room.

York's complicated gaze followed her, and he silently trailed behind.

In the small living room, the two families sat facing each other. Claudia sat by her mother, Jessica, while York took a separate armchair next to her.

At a signal from the old man, Wendy spoke up. "Claudia's parents, we came today to talk about the children's divorce."

Wendy hesitated, then forced herself to continue. "Our families have known each other for generations, and York and Claudia have known each other since they were children. It would be a shame for them to divorce just like this."

She apologized, "It's our fault for not raising our son well, and we're sorry for the pain he's caused Claudia. I am apologizing to you on our family's behalf. We came today to hear your thoughts and see if you might persuade Claudia to give York another chance."

Jessica glanced at her daughter, then refused flatly. "There's no need. We support Claudia's decision to divorce."
