When Claudia was in Caledon, she'd been Rock Sayer's attending physician and knew just how difficult the young heir to a European financial empire could be.
Claudia put her phone away. "Master Sayer, have you booked a hotel?"
Rock Sayer's deep brown eyes danced as he stared at Claudia. "I want to stay at your place."
Claudia's expression turned cold. She played her trump card. "Six, you're crossing a line."
Rock Sayer was the sixth grandson in his family's generation. Between his tricky, unconventional ways and his obsession with good looks, he'd earned the nickname 'Six' in their social circles.
But he despised the name, and anyone who used it would regret it.
Only one thing kept her alive after using that name: his insomnia and his need for her care. Without it, she was a dead woman.
Besides, the space between her and York hummed with a live wire of tension, making every breath at home feel labored.
To actually bring that young master into this house now would be like inviting a spark into a room soaked in gasoline.
The moment Six heard Claudia use his nickname, he immediately backed down. "...Alright, a hotel it is, then."
Seeing him concede, Claudia let it go and took Rock Sayer to a hotel to check in.
Six leaned close to her. "Claudia, I had a sports car shipped over ahead of time. After dinner, you can take me for a spin around Capital City."
Claudia readily agreed.
She'd much rather build a good relationship with her VIP patient than go home and face York.
While waiting for Six in the hotel lobby, Claudia ran into Ann.
Ann glanced around to make sure no one was listening, then dropped her pretense. "You go around screaming about wanting a divorce, yet you seize every opportunity to show off how lovey-dovey you are. The hypocrisy is a skill I don't think I could ever master."
Claudia's eyes were filled with disdain. "Ann, I told you to take the child to the press conference and claim him as York's. You're the one who didn't have the guts to go!"
She had actually prepared a follow-up move, but Ann hadn't taken the bait.
Her weak spot exposed, Ann's face darkened.
Claudia had tipped her off in advance, telling her to bring her son to the press conference and publicly establish his paternity.
