Claudia nervously tucked the item into her bag and turned to leave.
Her heart pounding with guilt, she made her way up to the third floor, where Ann and Rock Sayer were already waiting by the door of the private room.
Claudia glanced down the hallway. "Why didn't you go in?"
Ann spoke sheepishly, "I don't know anyone inside. I felt awkward going in without you."
Rock Sayer pulled Claudia closer to get a better look. "Claudia, are you sweating?"
Claudia pushed him away, offering a quick excuse. "I was worried I was making you wait, so I rushed up here."
She maintained a calm facade, but inside, every nerve was on high alert. Rock Sayer came off as unreliable, but there was an unsettling sharpness to his eyes that belied his careless demeanor. She would have to be careful.
This was the perfect opportunity, and she had to seize it. She had to get York and Ann into the same bed.
The three of them pushed open the door, and the lively atmosphere in the room abruptly fell into a strange silence.
"Sorry, I brought a couple of friends," Claudia said with a smile as she entered, introducing Ann and Rock Sayer to the group.
Her eyes landed on the empty seat next to York. She slung her bag off her shoulder and moved to sit beside him.
But before she could even touch the sofa, Peter yanked her back up.
In the next moment, Peter pushed Ann into the seat next to York.
Claudia was so stunned by Peter's move that she didn't know how to react.
Darleen, who was sitting on York's other side, stood up to offer her seat. "Claudia, come sit over here."
Just as Claudia was about to move, Rock Sayer grabbed her arm. "Claudia, let's not squeeze in with them."
