Claudia went to take a shower, her thirst lingering.

York didn't stop her.

When she came out of the bathroom, she saw that the light in York's study was on.

Claudia walked back to the wet bar and stared at the water cooler, hesitating for a moment before deciding not to risk it.

Neither she nor York were fond of sugary drinks, so besides milk and yogurt, the fridge was empty.

Claudia took out an unopened bottle of milk. She twisted the cap, but just as she was about to take a sip, she heard footsteps behind her and froze.

Meeting York's deep gaze, Claudia thought for a moment, then screwed the cap back on, not daring to drink.

She glanced at York, sent a quick text to Rock, and then waited by the door.

A few moments later, Rock arrived with two bottles of water.

With a sense of relief, Claudia drank half a bottle in one go.

Late that night, they lay in the same bed. Listening to the steady rhythm of York's breathing beside her, Claudia didn't toss and turn, but she couldn't fall asleep. She had orchestrated Ann's failed attempt to drug him in front of all his friends. From the moment she got home until they went to bed, he hadn't mentioned it, asked about it, or even said a single word to her. The more Claudia thought about it, the more she felt something was terribly wrong.

The next morning, Claudia got ready for work. Wilma reminded them from the doorway, "Mr. Ferguson, Mrs. Ferguson, breakfast is ready."

Noticing York was dawdling in the closet, Claudia went to the dining room by herself. After finishing half a bowl of oatmeal porridge, she was ready to leave.

As she left the dining room, York grabbed her by the wrist. "Wilma, you can go home for the day," he said to the housekeeper.

Wilma untied her apron and left.
