No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 258

York bent down and pulled the blanket up over Claudia. "I've prepared lunch for you in the kitchen," he said. "I'm heading to the office now. Get some rest."

There he was, clean and pressed in his fancy suit, talking gently, as if the man who had been so savagely intense in bed moments ago was someone else entirely.

Claudia was utterly exhausted and simply closed her eyes.

York stared at her for a long moment before turning and leaving the bedroom.

The moment he was gone, Claudia's eyes snapped open. She leaned over the edge of the bed and tipped over the trash can. She counted the used condoms and their wrappers that fell out, and the tense look on her face eased slightly.

York already had a son with Ann, so it was logical he wouldn't want her to get pregnant. Her fear was that he might try to use a child to bind and control her.

York was a deep and calculating man; she couldn't afford to be careless.

"If you're really that worried, take this."

York walked back in with a glass of water and opened a morning-after pill, holding it out to her. Claudia checked the packaging and swallowed it without a second thought.

It seemed her suspicions were correct—York had no intention of having a child with her.

Watching Claudia take the pill without hesitation, a look of relief on her face, York's hands, hanging by his sides, clenched into tight fists. He gave her a cold look and strode out of the bedroom.

Claudia slept until three in the afternoon. She forced her aching body out of bed and looked at herself in the mirror. Seeing the marks that covered her, she soaked in the bathtub for a long time.

She had been drugged, her mind not entirely clear, but she could still feel the restrained fury in the way York had ravaged her. He had been both gentle and forceful, using every position imaginable, making her cry, making her beg, making her promise things.
