No Divorce? The Billionaire's Love Chase! novel Chapter 273

York put Ethan down and started walking toward Claudia. She got in her car, and he quickened his pace.

As she started the engine, he reached out, placing his hand on the frame of the open window.

"Claudia," he called out.

She glanced at him once, then slammed her foot on the accelerator. The car lurched forward, nearly sideswiping him and making him stumble.

Ann hadn't caused any trouble for a while, and with York's constant efforts to make amends, Claudia's focus had shifted back to her work. He had been unusually domestic lately, coming home on time, either waiting for her to have dinner or picking her up from the hospital. He'd even started sending her tentative, sometimes nonsensical, messages during the day.

Now she realized it was all just a smokescreen.

A cold laugh escaped her lips. For her, none of this was necessary.

Late that night, at Blue Bay Estates, York sat in his parked car, not getting out. He rolled down the window and lit a cigarette. The thin veil of smoke obscured his features, making him look somber and inscrutable.

A white sports car pulled into the adjacent spot, and Peter got out. He reached through York's window, grabbed the cigarette pack, and shook one out for himself. "Can't even bring yourself to go inside your own home? What did you do wrong this time?"

York exhaled a tired ring of smoke. "As long as you don't stir up trouble, the two of us will be fine."

Peter chuckled twice. "You and Claudia getting a divorce is just a matter of time. I'll be waiting to see it."

York turned to look at him, his brow furrowed. "As long as you don't add fuel to the fire, that day will never come."

"The whole world is waiting to see you and Claudia get divorced," Peter said. "Your persistence is meaningless."

With a look that said 'figure it out yourself,' Peter turned and walked toward the building.
