Now it had gotten worse. She pestered him day and night, leaving him no peace.
Because of Ann, not only was he losing sleep, but his wife was constantly yelling at him.
She kicked him out of bed twice in the middle of the night, almost wrecked his back.
If this kept up, he'd be getting divorced before his boss did.
Just then, Wendy knocked and entered. Mark respectfully served her tea and then excused himself. As the office door closed, York joined his mother in the lounge area.
Wendy got straight to the point. "You're aware of the situation with Ann, I presume?"
York sat across from her, leaning forward slightly with his elbows on his knees. He looked down and gave a slight nod.
"That girl, Claudia, is getting more and more out of hand," Wendy said, her expression stern. "While you were on your business trip, she upset your grandfather so much he ended up in the hospital, and she still hasn't even visited him."
York lowered his gaze, hiding his emotions. Claudia treated him like a stranger now; she would be even colder to his family.
When York didn't respond, Wendy continued, "Your affair with Ann is a done deal. Claudia's constant drama is embarrassing for everyone. Your father, your grandfather, and I have discussed it. If you don't want to remarry, we won't force you. But you need to divorce Claudia first and get Ann James and her son settled. After all, that child is your flesh and blood."
