As York stared in the direction Claudia had disappeared, Ann started to cry. "Even if I do have feelings for you, what's so wrong with that?"
York turned back, his eyes glinting dangerously.
Ann pushed on, her voice trembling. "We used to be a couple. I was your first love. You said it yourself back then, you were going to marry me. We may have been apart for six years, but you don't love your wife. When I first came back, you were so good to me. I don't believe you have no feelings for me at all."
York let out a sudden, cold laugh.
Ann's scalp tingled with fear, and she involuntarily took a step back.
York looked her up and down. "Ann, we dated, yes. And I did think about marrying you."
Hearing this, Ann couldn't contain her excitement.
"If you still have feelings for me, why are you being so cold?" she asked, her voice thick with grievance. "York, I'm back. Let's get back together. Can't we go back to how things were six years ago?"
A flicker of disgust crossed York's eyes.
His voice was glacial, devoid of any emotion. "Ann, six years ago, when you were supposedly so pure, I didn't even sleep with you. What makes you think I'd want you now that you've been married and had another man's child?"
His words hit Ann like a physical blow, and she staggered backward.
She looked at him in disbelief as tears streamed down her face.
She was completely unhinged.
"Aren't you the one who got me into this mess?" she screamed at him, her voice breaking. "If your grandfather hadn't used your inheritance to force me to go abroad and get married, do you think I would have endured six years of hellish abuse?"
"And now you're disgusted because I've been married and have a child?" she sobbed. "You don't want me anymore? Then what was all my sacrifice for?"
