"Grandfather," York said, "I still have a use for Ann. You can't touch her for now."
He then turned to his parents. "Mom, Dad, I've wronged Claudia. I'll spend the rest of my life making it up to her."
Wendy was emotional. "You've hurt her this badly, and you still expect her to spend the rest of her life with you? In your dreams!"
York's voice was firm. "Mom, if it ever comes to a day where I don't even have the chance to make it up to her, I will never remarry. I won't have any other children. I would rather die alone!"
With that, York turned and left the Ferguson Mansion without a backward glance.
Sewell, seething with anger, began smashing things. "You ungrateful wretch! Is this how you repay us for raising you?"
The old man was so enraged he coughed up blood and passed out on the spot.
Wendy was so furious she saw stars and nearly fainted herself.
Sewell declared, "That rebellious son! From this day on, no one is to bother with him! Let him dig his own grave!"
The Ferguson Mansion was in chaos all night.
Just after three in the morning, a helicopter landed at the family's private airfield.
York leaned against his car, smoking.
He wore a pair of crisp trousers and a white shirt, untucked, with the top three buttons casually undone.
Ann stumbled out of the helicopter and ran crying toward York, trying to throw herself into his arms.
York shifted slightly to the side, and Ann missed.
Disheveled, she fell to the ground and clutched his pant leg. "York, I almost didn't see you again! Your grandfather… he almost killed me!" she sobbed.
"If I could get you back, I can keep you safe," York said.
"I've arranged another apartment for you. Take your son and move in for now. If you need anything else, come find me."
Ann, still shaken, got into Mark's car.
Through the window, she watched York, handsome and poised, smoking by his luxury car. Her eyes flickered with uncertainty.
