As evening approached and the room finally quieted down, Claudia arrived at the hospital.

Sewell saw her and scolded her with a grim expression, "York is hospitalized, and instead of being here to take care of him, you've been out doing who knows what?"

Claudia glanced at York on the bed. "You were all here, weren't you?"

York spoke before his father could. "Dad, Mom, you've been busy all day. You should go home and rest."

Wendy gave Claudia a pointed look and practically dragged Sewell out of the room.

With everyone gone, only Claudia and York remained. She noticed that after a day and a night apart, he looked somewhat haggard.

"It's not that I didn't want to take care of you," she said. "You angered me so much yesterday that I left. You can't blame me for that."

York, sitting on the bed, watched her as she stood by the window. He turned and took a small box of dessert from the drawer. "Your godson left this for you."

Claudia walked over and took the small box from his hand. So Hugh had come to visit him too. Just like a lawyer to be so proper.

As Claudia turned to leave with the dessert, York grabbed her wrist and pulled her down to sit beside him on the bed. He held both her wrists and said, "I know you don't want to take care of me. I'll check out tomorrow morning so you can focus on your work."

Claudia eyed him with suspicion. After Hugh sent the legal notice, Cyrus stole his project, he was almost run over by Rock Sayer, and she had abandoned him at the hospital for a full day and night... Yet, he wasn't lashing out. He was compromising. She felt a little uneasy. "What are you really planning?"

York released her wrists. "Claudia, I haven't eaten all day."
