Ann pointed at Claudia. "Is it because of her?" she shrieked. "Are you planning to get back together with that bitch, so you want to send me to prison?"

When York remained silent, she suddenly burst into tears.

"York," she sobbed, "you defied your own family for me. You divorced your wife for me. The person you wanted to marry was me. The person you love is me. Right?"

He went on, "I kept it from my wife to take care of you. I showed you favor. But it never crossed my mind to leave my wife for you."

Ann suddenly laughed, a chilling, hollow sound.

"York," she cackled, "even if you didn't want to, you're divorced now, aren't you?"

York's expression grew heavy. "Ann, I agreed to the divorce because I wanted a fresh start with my wife. It had nothing to do with you."

His words were like daggers, plunging deep into Ann's heart. Her smile faded, replaced by a look of pure malice.
