Obedience No More He's the One I Deserved novel Chapter 320

After she hung up, Dawn stood still for a while, lost in thought.

Why were there always so many coincidences?

She felt like she had to figure out the truth for herself.

Two days passed without seeing Jonathan, and Dawn was growing restless in the hotel. Just when she was about to go crazy with boredom, she finally saw his assistant.

"Ms. Dawn," he greeted respectfully with a nod. "Mr. Curran asked me to take you to the airport first. He'll meet us there once he's done with work."

Finally, they were going back to Northville.

"Okay," Dawn said. "Give me two minutes."

She went back to her room and took a quick look around. There wasn't much to pack. After all, she didn't even have her phone or charger.

A faint, self-deprecating smile curved her lips as she turned and walked out.

"Let's go."

Their group moved through the airport in full formation—bodyguards, assistants, and all—turning heads everywhere they went.

A few people thought they were celebrities and tried to sneak photos, only to have the bodyguards step in and make them delete them.

Dawn was used to this kind of attention by now. She just ignored it, breezing through security via the VIP lane before heading straight to the lounge.

It didn't take long for Jonathan to arrive.

He looked exhausted—and busy. His phone kept ringing nonstop. His assistant sat beside him with a laptop open, the screen full of shifting data that made Dawn's head spin just looking at it.

She glanced at the screen once, then looked away, exhaling heavily through her nose.

Jonathan's eyes flicked toward her for a moment before he said into the phone, "That's enough for now. We'll finish this after I land in Northville."

He ended the call and turned to her. "Have you eaten?"

"Yeah." Dawn's tone was flat. She had no interest in small talk. "Mr. Curran, you can keep working. I don't like noise, but you're fine—you're not that loud."

She didn't want him blaming her later if something went wrong with his deals.

Jonathan's expression tightened, but he didn't say anything.

They sat in silence until it was time to board. Once Dawn took her seat, she slipped on an eye mask. Whether she actually slept or not didn't matter—it was just an excuse to avoid talking to him.

The plane cut through the clouds and soared high above, the world far below fading into a blur.

By the time they landed in Northville, it was already dark.

Jonathan's phone started ringing again the second they got off the plane. Watching him handle call after call with that cold sharp look on his face, Dawn finally said, "Go ahead and deal with your work. Just have the driver take me home."

Jonathan's gaze lingered on her for a long second.

Oh my God, am I wrong for caring about you?

Maybe the frustration showed on her face, because the corner of his mouth lifted in a faint, almost ironic smile. "The house has already been cleaned up. Go get some rest."

Dawn watched him step into another car. The headlights flashed across her face before fading into the distance, leaving only the reflection of his silhouette in her clear eyes.

Then she turned to the driver and said coldly, "Let's go."

She looked back—no movement. Good. She let out a quiet sigh of relief.
