Chapter 259
Skylar said, “Got it. Go get some rest.” Victor stretched and headed to his room.

After freshening up, Skylar cuddled Adam and was about to sleep. Sleepily, Adam mumbled, “Mommy, Adam wants to tell you something.” Adam was barely keeping his eyes open, but he tried to stay awake for what he wanted to say.
“What’s wrong? Is there something urgent?” Skylar gently tapped Adam’s eyelids and teased, “Look at you, struggling to keep your eyes open while still fighting off sleep.”
Adam said softly, “Mommy, I want to go on a trip with you and Daddy.”
Skylar’s hand paused as she gently rubbed Adam’s eyes. “What made you think of this all of a sudden?”
I saw kids on TV spending time with their mommies and daddies… I wish I could do that too,” Adam whispered, sounding a bit sad.
“I’ve never been on a trip with both Mommy and Daddy, and I’m not sure if I ever will get the chance.” Adam tilted his little head and pleaded, “Mommy, please?”
Skylar gently stroked Adam’s hair and softly said, “Sweetie, if you want to go on a trip, Mommy can take you–but it will just be the two of us. After our trip, you can go on another one with Daddy, okay?“. Skylar wouldn’t want to have much contact with Yosef. She would try to avoid him whenever possible.
“Mommy…” Adam whined in a pleading, singsong voice, “I want to go with you guys.” He clung to Skylar’s arm, insisting, “Mommy, Daddy, and 1–we’re a perfect family! I know you don’t like Daddy, but I really want to be with both of you.
“Mommy, just pretend Daddy isn’t here–think of it as a trip for just the two of us, okay?” Skylar found it hard to resist Adam’s persistent persuasion. Unable to bear the sight of her son’s sad face, she finally nodded in agreement. Skylar gently urged him, “Time for bed, sweetie.”
Adam didn’t respond at all; his eyes were tightly closed as he slipped into a deep, peaceful sleep. Skylar let out a resigned sigh. Just my luck,‘ she thought bitterly. ‘I don’t want to deal with him anymore, but somehow I can’t break free. If this continues, what if–Stop it. No way. Absolutely not,‘ she mused.
Although a series of coincidences and misunderstandings led to the events of that time, Skylar still struggled to move on. She never wanted to experience that kind of heart–wrenching pain again, and she was determined not to fall into the same trap twice.
After giving herself a stern warning, Skylar finally closed her eyes and gradually drifted off to sleep.
The next morning, Adam eagerly approached Skylar with his iPad, eager to discuss their plans. “Mommy, can we go see the ocean? I’ve never seen it before. Is it endless?” he asked.
Adam’s curiosity was limitless–he inundated his mom with questions: “Mommy, is it really comfortable to walk barefoot does the sea breeze truly taste salty?”
on the sand? And
Skylar patiently answered all his questions. “If you’d like to see the ocean, we can visit a coastal city. Oh, by the way, have you mentioned this to Daddy yet?”
Adam giggled playfully. “Daddy already knows. He said we get to decide, and he’ll go along with whatever we choose.”
Adam thought, ‘Whether he likes it or not, he has to listen. Daddy is so out of his depth–all he does is upset Mommy. At the pace Daddy is trying to win Mommy back. It will take forever. I guess it’s up to me now.‘
After carefully reviewing all those romantic reality shows, Adam finally identified the ideal way to bring his parents closer together–a family trip. In particular, a couple’s getaway is the quickest way to strengthen the bond between two people.
