Adam was a true go–getter. Within just a few hours, he and Skylar had finalized their travel plans. Next on the list was packing for the trip, which involved sorting out all the essentials they would need for the trip.

Skylar was about to pack on her own when Adam insisted on helping her. Initially, she doubted that Adam could manage the packing by himself. However, when she saw him attentively mimicking her every move as he folded clothes, she couldn’t help but smile. ‘It looks like he has this under control. He doesn’t need my help after all,‘ she thought.
Skylar and Adam quickly packed their bags and set off to inform their family about the trip. “Going on a trip? How long will it be?” Yana hugged Adam and asked, “Is Adam healthy enough for this?” Adam’s health was fragile, and Yana wasn’t sure if he could manage the trip.
“Don’t worry, Mom. We’re just going a short distance–Adam is more than capable of managing the trip,” Skylar replied.
Yana gently caressed Adam’s soft, fuzzy hair and asked warmly, “That’s wonderful to hear. Adam, have you ever gone on a trip before?”
Adam shook his head and said, “No, daddy was always busy, and that other person never took me anywhere. I often had to stay home alone.”
Yana felt a deep sense of heartache. At Adam’s age, when children were playing outside and exploring freely, he endured being stuck at home all day. Gently stroking Adam’s head, Yana said softly, “Oh, my poor baby, you’ve been through so much…”
Adam embraced Yana and cuddled close to her. “Don’t worry, Grandma. I’m okay.”
“Ah, your father is so unreliable. If only we had found your mother sooner, maybe you two wouldn’t have had to endure so much hardship,” Yana sighed, her heart aching profoundly in memory. Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears as Yana admitted, “To be honest, your grandfather and I were no better than your father.”
Adam may be young, but he knows how to comfort others. In his gentle voice, he said earnestly, “That’s not true. Grandma and Grandpa are wonderful, and Dad is the best dad, too. None of you did anything wrong.” Adam gently reassured, “Grandma, don’t overthink it. Mommy and I are both doing just fine now, so please don’t blame yourself.”
Skylar sighed softly and took Yana’s hand. “Mom, no one is perfect. You’ve done your best–please don’t be so hard on yourself,” she said.
With the comforting words of Skylar and Adam, Yana finally managed to lift her spirits. “I’m still worried about you two going out alone. How about I join you so I can look after you?”
Adam’s deep eyes widened in disbelief. ‘No way!‘ he thought, alarmed. ‘If Grandma comes along, how will Dad ever get a chance to show what he can do? No! Granny can’t come!‘ Adam thought anxiously, his mind racing for a solution.
Skylar said, “Mom, I’d like to take Adam out, just the two of us. I’d like us to have some quality bonding time. Besides, we weren’t prepared this time. Let’s plan to go together next time.”
Yana sighed. “Alright, then. Alternatively, I could send some bodyguards to you. That would certainly ease my mind,” she suggested.
“Mom,” Skylar said with an exasperated laugh, “who in the world goes on vacation with bodyguards?”
“I can’t help but worry about the two of you,” Yana sighed. That was just what mothers used to do when their children were away from home.
“Mom, I’m really strong—I can take care of both myself and Adam. So relax, okay?” Skylar assured her.
After much persuasion, Yana finally agreed not to send bodyguards with them. “Alright,” she conceded, “but you must call us every single day.”
“Okay, Grandma,” Adam replied sweetly and obediently.
