Chapter 99

If Leland was pretending to be sick to gain my sympathy, I wouldn’t fall for it. He completely underestimated the strength I could have when I hated
him.
Arriving at the office, I saw Caitlyn pouring coffee for Leland from a distance. I ignored him and presented all the details of the company’s collaboration with Allen in a document.
Caitlyn said, “Ms. Perez, I already reached out to Allen, who heads our partner company, about our collaboration. We’re not going with your proposal; I’m going to handle securing this deal my way.”
I gave a small smile, “Alright, I hope the signing goes well.” I turned to head out, not bothering to glance at Caitlyn and Leland.
“Wait.” Leland stood up. To be fair, you both should meet with Allen together. Present him with both of your collaboration proposals. Whoever he picks will sign the official contract with him.
*Also, I want to make it clear that if he chooses Caitlyn, Kaylie, you’ll have to accept that you lost. You’ll need to spend some time building yourself up, maybe a few years, and then you can try to get those assets back from her.”
Leland’s words made me feel disgusted. This was the biggest insult to me. I was the heir to the Perez family, yet he wanted me to compete with Caitlyn for property that was rightfully mine.
I looked at Leland with anger.”Let’s get a divorce. I’ll leave with nothing and you’ll get everything.”
Leland was shocked.”Kaylie, honestly, you’re acting like a coward. You won’t even stand up and fight for what’s rightfully yours. What’s holding you back?”
I sneered, “I just don’t want to lose the last bit of family bond we have. Leland, think about it. We used to care so much about each other, but lately, you’ve been acting cold and indifferent towards me.”
Leland hesitated for a moment, and with a bit of panic, he said, “Kaylie, is that really what you think? The Leslie Group was your parents’ company and should be yours too. Are you really willing to leave with nothing, even after a divorce?”
I nodded, wiping away my tears.”Yes, I’m fine with that. Just stop showing up with this woman in front of me, and I’ll agree to your requests, including helping out with the asset transfer process.”
My words made Leland’s eyes redden.”Kaylie, are you sure you can accept that? Because if you are, the Leslie Group won’t be yours anymore in the future.”
