Finally, I truly left.

I hailed a taxi, heading to the hotel where Allen was staying. The planned meeting was imminent. As Anya, I would no longer be bound by Kaylie’s past.

Arriving at the hotel, Allen was waiting by the door. Seeing me, he opened his arms for a hug, then introduced me to a handsome man beside him.

This is my sister, Anya. Tyrell, the person you’ve been most eager to meet-she’s here.”

My mind went blank. What did he mean?

Tyrell? The name escaped my lips; it sounded familiar.

Then, I saw him-about 5’11”, dressed in a black suit that lent him an air of mature steadiness. He extended his hand.”Hello, Anya. I’m Tyrell Vaughn. Pleased to meet you.”

Still reeling from the surprise, I reached out, and he responded with a warm, enveloping grip. He gently took my suitcase from me, and with a welcoming gesture, suggested that we should first get me settled in the room.

His smile was bright, like a sudden ray of sunshine, seeming to illuminate only me. In that moment, the sorrow momentarily faded, and I found myself following them into the room.

His voice was pleasant, somehow reminding me of Leland.

Why did this encounter, this man in a white shirt and black suit with neat hair and delicate features-pristine like a mirror-remind me so strongly of my first impression of Leland?

His gentle, refined voice said, “Leave the rest to us, Anya. You should get some good rest.”

I nodded, then, unable to hold back, blurted out, “I’ve already coordinated with the media. Starting at midnight, they will disseminate the news rapidly. I want Leland and Caitlyn’s affair exposed widely.”

Tyrell and Allen exchanged a loaded glance before turning back to me.

Allen spoke up, Ruin their reputations. And then, we’ll ensure they have nothing left.”

Tyrell nodded.”Rest well for now. We’ll handle everything.”

For some reason, I trusted him completely. A small smile touched my lips, a genuine sense of reassurance washing over me. I carefully placed the box my mother left me on the nightstand before finally succumbing to a deep sleep.

Meanwhile, in the company’s underground parking lot, Caitlyn was backed against the wall, cornered by Leland.

She shrank away, trapped.”Mr. Pearson, I’m innocent! I swear, I didn’t know your injury was minor! It was Dr, Sheppard! I heard he’s fled. He gave me a fake medical report, making me believe you only had a month to live! I didn’t know the diagnosis was false!”
