Chapter 62
Leroy was impatient. You’re talking too much. What’s the point? I just want the money! Once you transfer the money to me, I’ll kill Ms. Perez immediately. It’s simple! So stop wasting time.
“And Mr. Pearson, don’t pretend you deeply love Ms. Perez in front of me. You know best what you’re really thinking. Do you really love her?
“Fuck, I really can’t tolerate people like you. Since you agreed to marry her and accepted her parents’ support, you should treat her well.
“Since you’ve already made up your mind, you better not play any tricks. Transfer the money immediately! I’m leaving this place to enjoy my life overseas with plenty of women.”
Leroy was truly impatient. I just gave a slight smile.
I quietly closed my eyes. Watching their performance was tiring.
My dear husband, could you really stand by and watch them kill me?
When I felt annoyed, I heard Leroy’s phone ring. Leland really transferred 200 million dollars to him.
This is more like it, Mr. Pearson. You’re showing some real generosity. But I gotta admit; I’m a bit confused. What’s the next line supposed to be?”
Leroy kept checking the money on his phone, and then Leland kicked a kidnapper and rushed in front of me to untie my ropes.
While Leland was untying me, I saw Caitlyn lean close to Leroy and whisper something in his ear.
I didn’t know what they were planning, but I could see that Leland’s face was sweaty, with sweat dripping down. He didn’t seem to want me killed.
The anxiety on his face and the worry in his eyes were clear.
It’s okay, I’m right here. I’ll protect you, no matter what it takes. I won’t let anything happen to you.”
I looked up at him. If it weren’t for Caitlyn, I would have been so moved that I would have thrown myself into his arms.
But at that moment, I just stood there, looking at him with coldness.
He gave me a soft kiss on the forehead and said, “They’re all lying, and they just want to provoke you. Kay, don’t look at me with such cold eyes, please. I’m really worried about you. Just hear me out, I didn’t hire them. Even if I’ve messed up some things, I never meant to hurt you or leave you. I’ll fill you in on what went down with Caitlyn later, alright?”
I paused for a moment, then quickly came back to my senses and stared at him, my eyes filled with resentment.
