Chapter 69

Leland, where did you find this caregiver? You can’t drink water after surgery. Didn’t the doctor tell you that? Does this woman intend to kill you?
Leland closed his eyes. He wanted to say something but decided to stay silent.
Caitlyn, however, couldn’t tolerate it. She rushed forward and angrily said, “Are you blind? Do I look like a caregiver? I’m his girlfriend!”
Slap Carlie slapped Caitlyn, adding a disdainful warning.
“He is Leland Pearson. Everyone in San Francisco knows his wife is Kaylie Perez. Besides, since he married Kaylie, he has been dependent on the Perez family in every aspect. You claim to be his girlfriend. Who are you? Are you trying to interfere in their marriage and be a homewrecker? By the way, I am Kaylie’s aunt. If I hear you say that again, I’ll make you regret it!”
Seeing Caitlyn get slapped, Leland moved slightly and said coldly, “Carlie, there’s a misunderstanding here. How is Kay? Is she okay?”
Carlie snorted, “Kaylie had a miscarriage and is very weak now. It was your child.”
Leland was so shocked that his eyes widened, and he looked panicked. He tried to get up, but the pain from his wound made his face twist, making him even paler.
“No, how could this happen? She was pregnant? Kay has always wanted a child so badly. She must be in great pain. Help me to see her. I need to see her.’ Caitlyn stepped forward to hold Leland back.”Mr. Pearson, don’t be upset. Ms. Perez is being taken care of by Denise. You don’t need to worry about
her.”
Carlie rolled her eyes. “Yes, Leland. I came over to tell you not to be sad. Even if Kay hadn’t miscarried, the child would most likely have been defective due to the heavy smoke. You’re both still young, and you can have more children in the future. You should rest well, and Kay will come to see you when she’s better.”
After Carlie left, Caitlyn collapsed to the floor, muttering, “Defective? No, no… Leland, our baby will be okay, right?”
