When Charlotte heard the number again, she thought both Sydney and Julian must be insane.
"Where would I possibly get six billion in cash?"
Forget ordinary people—even among the powerful families of Jouleston, few could summon that kind of money easily, let alone give it away for nothing.
Charlotte studied Sydney's calm, indifferent expression and grew suspicious. "You're not lying to me, are you?"
"What reason would I have to lie?" Sydney answered evenly
Charlotte drew a deep breath, suddenly at a loss for words. It was the first time money had felt like an obstacle.
Seeing her hesitate, Sydney asked, "Do you still want the prescription?"
Clearly, Charlotte had not come for medical treatment today.
Charlotte nodded. "Yes."
Her sleep had been poor lately, and she had heard from other patients that Sydney's skills were exceptional. Since she was already here, she might as well regulate her health.
Sydney tapped a few keys on the keyboard, then handed her a printed prescription. "Pay downstairs on the first floor and collect your medicine."
Charlotte took the slip but lingered, unsure whether to speak.
Sydney glanced at the time, impatient. "Still thinking about paying six billion for me?"
Charlotte inhaled sharply. "I don't have that much. If it were around 500,000 dollars, I could find a way."
"Then excuse me. I'm off work." Sydney had never expected her to produce the money. She only wanted to make things clear, to avoid endless trouble later.
When Charlotte still hesitated, Sydney picked up her bag, ready to leave.
To collect her divorce certificate. Today was the day Adeline had promised to hand it over.
After exchanging a few words with Marcus, Sydney drove straight to the estate.

Because of the Light Festival, the Hampton home buzzed with more life than usual. Lanterns hung throughout the courtyard, filling the space with a rich, vibrant glow.
As soon as Sydney stepped inside, she heard Timothy making a racket upstairs.
Adeline looked irritated when she saw Sydney. "You couldn't wait even one more day? You had to insist on getting the divorce certificate on the Light Festival of all days?"
In her mind, her son's background, looks, abilities, and character were all exceptional—more than enough to deserve a hundred Sydneys.
"No. I can't wait." Sydney's voice was calm and resolute.
