"So, we just have to make sure we will! Let’s go. I think we’re already here."
With that, Penny jogged ahead while Slater kept his eyes on her figure. As she jogged away, the smile on Penny’s face slightly faded.
To be honest, Penny’s reason for believing in Atlas wasn’t just pure faith in him. Zoren had already shared a lot of information about the Zorken Family and the Shadow Order with her. It was why she knew that even if she got the code, she wasn’t the right person to lead such a powerful group.
Even Zoren admitted he wasn’t fit.
Of course, the couple were capable. However, they couldn’t because Atlas was already determined. Besides, with Atlas’s experience at Global Prime Logistics and his seamless transition to the Pierson Corporation, this was just another transition for him.
Besides, she knew Atlas would find a way to regain some form of freedom, even after making the Shadow Order kneel.
With that, her smile returned.
Meanwhile, Shawn glanced at Slater quietly before following Penny, walking past him. It took Slater a while to catch up.
"Of course, First Brother will be alright," Slater muttered to himself, dragging his feet to catch up with them.
Just as she said, they reached the area the grandma had told them about, and, as expected, they found a small, abandoned-looking hut. Still, the three of them entered and followed the grandma’s instructions, searching for any secret door on the ground.
As they searched, Slater soon felt something underneath the pile of dry leaves. Clearing it with his hand, he caught sight of a small rectangular metal plate.
"Penny!" he shouted, making Penny and Shawn pause.
The other two quickly rushed to where he was, finding the metal plate on the ground. They exchanged looks before Slater gazed down and pulled the plate up.
As soon as he did, a button was revealed beneath it.
"Should I press it?" Slater asked, looking up at the two. "It might trigger a bomb or something."
"I’ll do it," Shawn volunteered, nodding at Slater, then Penny. "Please wait outside, Miss Penny."
"But you might explode," she said.
Shawn offered a thin smile. "It’s alright. If it’s a bomb, then it can’t be helped. But like you said, you trusted the old lady. So, I’m choosing to trust her as well."
Penny blinked, while Slater already got to his feet.
"Let’s go, Penny," Slater remarked without a second thought, having no issues sacrificing Shawn if needed.
"Oh, right." She nodded, then looked at Shawn encouragingly. "Don’t worry. It’s not a bomb... I hope."
With that, Slater and Penny rushed outside the small hut, moving to a distance. Shawn, on the other hand, gazed at the open entrance. There was no door, so he could see Penny and Slater’s figures moving further away.
A shallow breath escaped Shawn as he crouched, his eyes on the button. There was only one red button, and even though the old lady had mentioned it, it was better to be safe than sorry.
"Whatever it is..." he whispered, reaching for the button. After another deep breath, he finally pressed it.
Shawn squinted, waiting for any "kaboom" that could kill him. However, nothing happened. What he heard was just a mechanical sound after pressing the button.
In the underground space, what greeted them as the lights turned on were cars—various vehicles.
"Is that—is that a tank?!" Penny gasped in shock, finally walking in to examine the vehicles in the unbelievably large space.
The other two followed, walking cautiously as they took in the different types of vehicles inside.
"It looks more like a collector’s warehouse," Shawn muttered, eyeing a vintage classic car parked there. "I heard there are only two of these in the world."
Slater didn’t respond, his eyes feasting on a line of sports cars. He didn’t want to get distracted, but eventually, he stopped in front of them, his eyes sparkling.
"I need this in my life."
"Wow! Wow!" Penny cheered, fawning over a military tank. "This is so cool! Should I choose this?"
Her voice trailed off as she caught something out of the corner of her eye. When she turned, her heart skipped a beat as her eyes landed on a classic big bike. She waved at the military tank as if telling it to forget about her, before she walked over to her next love—the big bike.
---
Minutes later, the area outside the abandoned hut grew eerily quiet. Despite the loud noises echoing across the island, this place remained rather peaceful until—
VROOM!
Suddenly, a large tactical truck roared out from the inside and crashed through the hut, destroying it from the inside once and for all.
