Chapter 124: Dangerous Alliances
Chapter 124: Dangerous Alliances
(Elena Blackwood’s POV)
After Amber Stone left, I remained motionless for a full minute before taking a deep breath. I knelt beside Marcus with an expressionless face, treating him as an ordinary patient.
I professionally tended to his external injuries. The room fell into complete silence as neither of us spoke.
When I removed the glass shards, I could hear his slightly rapid breathing. He didn’t make a sound despite the pain.
After applying moonlight herb healing salve, I carefully bandaged his wound. My hands moved with practiced precision, wrapping the gauze around his palm.
Marcus stared directly at my face. A faint smile played at the corners of his lips as he asked, “Shall we talk?”
After a few seconds of hesitation, I looked down while packing the medical kit. “No.”
He softly called my name. “Elena.”
The moment I looked up in confusion, he leaned closer. He brushed past my lips like a dragonfly touching water.
I froze instantly. Then I pushed him away and slapped his jaw.
His head turned slightly to the side. He touched the spot I struck, not angry but smiling instead.
“Psycho!” I quickly left the bedroom.
Before I slammed the door shut heavily, I saw Marcus press his bandaged hand to his lips. He was kising the knot I had tied.
(Sophia Rivers’s POV)
When Nathan Sterling returned to the Southern Territory Grand Hotel, he encountered me at the entrance. Seeing me reminded him of our absurd time together in the Northern Territory.
Those things he didn’t want to acknowledge – about Elena’s parents and the car accident. He had thought it would be good for Elena to stay in the Northern Territory, so she would never know what happened.
But unexpectedly, I had come to seek him out.
I turned to look at Nathan, noticing his gloomy expression. I knew he didn’t welcome me, but I wouldn’t compromise.
After all, we were once conspirators.
I approached with a smile. “I’ve been waiting for you for a long time.”
Nathan ignored my charm and walked past me. He swiped open his room door and asked, “Why aren’t you looking for Marcus instead?”
My smile faded slightly as I followed him into the room. “Marcus already knows about my deeds.”
Nathan sat on the sofa in a relaxed posture. He mockingly said, “What a pity.”

I sat beside him, leaning against him. I began to dissect his motivations.
“You wanted Marcus to feel defeated. You couldn’t compete in pack status or Alpha bloodline, but you thought you could win in matters of the heart.”
I continued my analysis with relish. “You initially used me when you thought Marcus cared about me. You even slept with me.”
“Later, when you noticed the unusual mate bond between Elena and Marcus, you went to use Elena instead.
Unfortunately, during your manipulation of her, you developed real feelings for her.”
I traced my finger across his chest, penetrating his clothing. I smiled as I asked, “But what good did it do? Because of who you were, Marcus didn’t even consider you a romantic rival.”
“Would Elena want to kill you if she knew that you helped cover up the attack on her parents and delayed
their emergency medical transport?”
These words tore at Nathan’s heart like daggers. He violently pushed me away, causing me to nearly fall off
the sofa.
I recovered and laughed angrily. “Are you ashamed and angry? You chose to conspire with me and now blame
me.”
“Shut up!” he roared.
I ignored the fury in his eyes and slowly stood up. “I’ll shut up if you help me with something.”
When Nathan coldly asked, “Are you shameless?” I threatened, “Or I’ll tell Elena the truth.”
This provoked him to grab my throat. I fearlessly challenged him, “Strangle me then. You won’t risk your
future when you’ve gained nothing.”
After releasing me, I gasped for air on the sofa. Nathan asked, “What do you want to do?”
ship.”
I revealed my plan. “I want you to help me connect with Dr. Hugo Ashworth through your good re
Nathan laughed mockingly. “Dr. Ashworth wouldn’t be interested in damaged goods like you.”
When I angrily retorted, “Elena is damaged goods too,” Nathan pointed out the difference. “Elena only has Marcus, while you’ve had multiple men.”
Frustrated, I demanded his help. When he asked what I could give him in return, I offered, “A secret.”
revealed the truth. “Marcus was once kidn*pped as a child but lost his memory of that period. Elena is very likely the girl who saved him back then, though Marcus doesn’t know this.”
“I’m currently safe only because I’m impersonating the girl who saved him. But if Marcus discovers that Elena
was that girl, you would have no chance.”
I declared with maniacal determination, “I won’t allow Elena to have what I can’t get. Marcus will eventually
discover my deception, but I’ll ensure he never learns Elena was his savior.”
Thinking of Dr. Ashworth’s attitude toward Elena, Nathan finally unclenched his fists. “This is the last time.”
(Marcus Blackwood’s POV)
Two days later, I dined with Director James Mitchell from Lunar Pharmaceuticals at Moonstone Ridge Restaurant. Director Mitchell noticed the bandage on my hand.
