Chapter 88: Hidden Truths
Chapter 88: Hidden Truths
(Elena’s POV)
I returned to the Blackthorne Family Compound to visit my mother. One of the Estate Caregivers opened the
door before I could knock.
“Who’s here?” Patricia’s voice came from inside the house.
Patricia walked to the Blackthorne Family Hall and froze when she saw me. “Elena?”
I helped her to the sofa, studying her face carefully. “Have you been taken care of these days?”
Patricia reassured me with a gentle smile. “Marcus’s arrangements are indeed proper, but I won’t be grateful
to him.”
She pulled my hand closer, her voice dropping to a worried whisper. “Are we really leaving the Northern
Territory? Can David leave?”
I nodded firmly. “Everything has been arranged, including finding a house.”
Patricia looked around the familiar space with reluctance in her eyes. “This is the house your fall aft
behind. After living here for so long, I’m a little reluctant to sell it.”
But if she didn’t sell it, the Blackthorne Pack would be eyeing it. The Northern Territory offered her no place to settle down peacefully.
Perhaps leaving was the best option after all.
Just as I was about to speak, my phone vibrated. Marcus’s name flashed on the screen.
I moved to the Blackwood Manor Terrace to respond privately. “What’s wrong?”
Instead of asking about Oliver, Marcus asked calmly, “Are you back at the estate?”
1 came to be with my mother,” I replied carefully.
“Don’t you trust my arrangements?” His voice carried a hint of challenge.
I pursed my lips. “No.”
Marcus acknowledged with a simple sound. “What did Grandmother say today when you went to the
Ancestral Manor?”
What could I say? I was silent for a few seconds before slowly opening my mind to him.
“I think there’s something you’ve misunderstood.”
When he didn’t respond, I took a deep breath and continued, “I did buy a pregnancy test that day, but I tested it, and Im not pregnant.
The Alpha was silent through our bond. If I hadn’t felt his presence in my mind, I would have thought he had severed the connection.
“Not pregnant?” he asked again, as if to confirm.
105
“No,” I affirmed.
“Did you tell Grandmother?” His question caused me a moment of silence.
Marcus suddenly projected amusement, and I sensed him lighting a cigarette. “Not pregnant now doesn’t mean never”
He took a puff of smoke, his emotions clouded. “I have plenty of time.”
I clenched my fist, my face slightly pale. “But you clearly promised-”
Before I could finish, the Alpha severed our communication.
Feeling the sudden emptiness in my mind, I gritted my teeth. I would be a fool to believe another word from
Marcus!
I had dinner with my mother before returning to Moonhaven Estate. Marcus came back very late as usual.
He hung his coat on his wrist, loosened his tie, and entered the Alpha’s Private Chamber. He was greeted by a peaceful scene he hadn’t seen in a long time.
I was sitting at the Luna’s Vanity Chamber in my robe, applying moonlight herb lotion. I had just taken a
shower
The light silk robe accentuated my curves, and my loose long hair was pinned up with a hairpin yellow light fell on me, making the scene unrealistically beautiful.
Marcus leaned down and hugged me from behind. “You’re willing to stay in the private chamber tonight?”
I looked at him in the mirror. “If I sleep in the guest room, would you not touch me?”
“You’ve figured it out.” He slightly curved his lips, buried his face in my neck, and kissed me.
His voice lowered. “Go to the Alpha’s Private Bath Chamber,”
I didn’t answer. The Alpha picked me up and carried me into the bathroom.
Back in bed, I didn’t want to move, letting Marcus hold me. We were surrounded by darkness.
With my back to Marcus, I slowly opened my eyes and spoke in a hoarse voice. “Don’t you not want me to
have your child?”
The Alpha behind me paused, looked at me for a long time, and said, “It’s time to have one.”
He said “it’s time,” not because he “wanted” one. I didn’t answer.
What he didn’t know was that I had taken Moonshade Fertility Suppressant Pills. I hadn’t figured it out, but !
had seen through him.
Wasn’t he just lusting after my body? I could use the remaining fourteen days to make him lower his guard
Even if we mated a few more times, it wouldn’t be a loss for me anyway.
The next morning. Catherine Hayes was organizing the trash in the Moonhaven Kitchen when she saw an
opened medicine box hidden in the trash can.
Thinking someone was sick, she took it out to look, and was suddenly stunned. Moonshade Fertility
Suppressant Pills?
Marcus came out of the bedroom, buttoning his cuffs. He seemed to be in a better mood than usual.
“What are you looking at?” Catherine was stunned, unsure how to speak.
Marcus walked over, about to see the words on the medicine box, when I suddenly rushed over and hugged
him from behind
“Marcus!”
Marcus paused slightly, turned to look at me, his eyes fixed on my slightly nervous face. “What’s wrong?”
I opened my mouth. “What… what do you want for breakfast?”
“You’re making it for me?” He seemed surprised
I hummed, staring at Marcus, afraid he would suddenly shift his gaze. My nervous appearance seemed very
charming to Marcus
Undeniably, he preferred my lively side.
“I’m not in a hurry.” Marcus leaned towards me and whispered in my ear, “I’ll devour you tonight.”
Before I could react, the Alpha left cheerfully.
The moment the door closed, Catherine slowly came back to her senses, realizing she had almost caused
trouble. She felt guilty
“Luna, I didn’t know these were… fertility suppressant pills. You and the Alpha haven’t wanted ch….
you
been taking pills all along?”
have
“No.” I took back the box. I had originally planned to dispose of it myself this morning, but Catherine had seen
it first.
“You don’t need to worry about my affairs with him.”
Luckily… Marcus shouldn’t have seen it.
“I hope you can keep this a secret, can you do that?” I rarely asked Catherine for anything, but this was the
first time I had made a request.
Catherine could tell that this matter was serious. Since she needed this job, she knew what she should and
shouldn’t say
1 understand, I won’t tell the Alpha.”
(Sophia Rivers‘ POV)
I went to the Blackwood Ancestral Manor to see Oliver. I bought several gifts, giving them to the Estate
Nannies who took care of the children.
I gave one to Grace Burton as well, but Grace didn’t want it.
