Brad had been forcibly taken to Chilllnada by Adam's men. Since Nadine had already returned to Janctera City, keeping him there was pointless. So, Adam withdrew his men and allowed Brad to act freely.

Still, Adam was fuming, cursing Brad to no end. All of this scolding took place over the phone, though. They weren't even in the same room during this exchange.

Adam vented his anger for a full hour. By the end of it, he was so exhausted that he collapsed back onto the bed, unable to get up for quite some time.

Travis took the phone afterward. He then advised Brad not to upset Adam any further.

But Brad didn't take it seriously at all. "He was able to scold me for over an hour, so he's in good health. There's nothing to worry about. Just comfort him for me."

Not long after he ended the call with Adam, he received a call from an unknown number. When he answered, he was met with the sound of Jean sobbing.

As soon as the call connected, Jean started crying uncontrollably. "Brad, your grandpa is going to beat me to death. Please take me away. I don't want to stay in the hospital anymore. Can we switch to another one, please?"

Brad was puzzled. "Why would Grandpa do that? It's impossible that he'd hit anyone. Is there some sort of misunderstanding?"

From what Brad knew of Adam, he would never treat anyone poorly, let alone resort to violence against Jean.

Jean cried even harder, struggling to speak between sobs. Her crying became more pitiful by the second. "Do you think I'm lying, Brad? Why don't you come and see for yourself? See how your grandpa has been treating me. See if I'm telling the truth or not."

Brad couldn't believe her claims about Adam beating her because he knew Adam too well.

In their six years of marriage, all he knew was that Nadine was a gentle and soft woman without a temper. She would give him whatever he wanted.

Only now did he realize that she had a temper too, and she wasn't as gentle as he imagined. Perhaps, when she was with him, she had concealed her fierceness and softened herself.

When Nadine suggested they re-follow each other on Instagram, Brad was momentarily stunned. This offer aligned perfectly with what he wanted. But the way Nadine said it made Brad feel very uncomfortable. It felt as though she was bestowing him a favor.

The high-and-mighty look on her face and the arrogant tone of her voice made him irritated.

After six years of marriage, Brad still didn't know much about Nadine's family background. That said, he had a fair understanding of her personality.
