Please Give Me Another Chance, Mrs. Hamilton novel Chapter 545

In the past, Brad would rush to Jean's side and scoop her up in his arms when she fell ill. Even if it was just a small cut on her finger, he would've rushed her to the hospital, worried that the slightest delay would make things worse. He'd hold her close and comfort her while urging the doctor to be gentle.

In the ward that day, still under the influence of anesthesia, he should've held her tight. But he did nothing of the sort. Instead, he stood there, regarding her with an accusatory look, as if she had committed an unforgivable sin.

This broke Jean's already fragile heart, causing tears to stream down her cheeks as she felt aggrieved. Moreover, he had questioned her sharply just a moment ago, making her feel even worse.

"When have I deceived you? What exactly did I lie to you about? I just came out of the operating room, and instead of comforting me, you're here questioning me! You say you love me, but all you do is hurt me!"

Jean was lost. She had no idea what was going on. When she noticed Lynn winking at her repeatedly, she thought she wasn't expressing her distress strongly enough and regretted not making her situation sound worse.

Her stomach churned violently, nausea and acid swirling inside like salt-soaked whips lashing at her heart. Brad had changed, that much was certain. He was no longer the man who loved her unconditionally.

Perhaps he had already started drifting away from her the moment he first shied away from her kiss. His heart must've already started leaning toward Nadine since then.

She couldn't help but think, "Nadine Scott, you wretched woman! Why don't you just go to hell?"

Brad remained rooted to the spot, looking at Jean with a gaze as cold as ice. Was this deceitful woman in front of him still the Jean he used to know? She had once been a sweet and innocent girl, but now, she had become someone utterly terrifying.

"And please! Is Nadine not at fault in any way here? She's the one who tore us apart. How could she possibly be in the right?" Panic surged through her heart like a raging tide. Jean was terrified because she could sense the looming end of their relationship.

Perhaps he would still care for her while she was sick and drop by now and then, but he would never love her the way he once did. Brad was basically telling her that it was over between them.

Jean couldn't just accept it. She had no idea what she had done to deserve this. Feeling utterly wronged, she sobbed.

"Is it wrong for me to fight for what's mine? If it weren't for Nadine, we'd still be blissfully in love! We wouldn't be like this! Didn't you hate Nadine for over six years as well?" Her emotions took over, and she cried out, struggling to get up from the hospital bed.
