Nadine's heart ached as she looked at Sean's pitiful expression. She hugged her son's round little head, pressing it against her cheek, and said with a smile, "If my precious baby wants some ice cream, we can go after the event is over, okay?"

No one understood him like his mother did. Nadine was well aware of what was running through his mind. He was craving the ice cream from the Majestic Horizons Hotel buffet.

Even though she usually tried to limit his sweet treats, she decided not to fuss over it this time since it was a special occasion. Plus, she wanted Sean to be happy.

Sean's eyes instantly lit up. "Really? Can we bring Daddy along?"

Nadine glanced at Brad out of the corner of her eye and made an excuse for him. "Baby, your daddy is very busy with work. He won't have time to join us. Let's go with him another time, okay?"

Why the hell would she bring Brad along? That would be a surefire way to ruin her mood! They were divorced, and there was no reason for ex-spouses to spend time together, period.

A proper ex should be as good as dead! As far as she was concerned, they both needed to disappear from each other's lives instead of popping up all the time.

Nadine gave Brad a perfectly good reason not to go, but of course, he didn't appreciate it in the slightest.

"Narcissism is a disease—you should get it treated!" Nadine had encountered shameless people before, but none like Brad. Who else would boast about themselves so blatantly? She'd have to be bored out of her mind to pay him any attention.

Brad snorted, his beautiful eyes locked on her as he shot back, "In that case, how do you know I'm busy and can't spend time with Sean?"
