Nadine was so infuriated she almost swore. Gritting her teeth, she asked, "When have I ever secretly kept an eye on you? I've never—"
Before she could finish her sentence, Brad cut her off. "Enough, stop denying it! There's nothing wrong with being open about it. From now on, I'll have Cameron send you my daily schedule."
He already knew what she was going to say and wasn't about to give her the chance. He loved how her face turned red with anger—it made her look like a pufferfish, both adorable and charming.
Sean, caught in the middle of his parents' bickering, sighed heavily and shook his head. Once his dad said that, he asked, "Does that mean we can have dinner together later, Daddy?"
Brad smiled as he ruffled Sean's hair. "Of course! I always have time to be with you and Mommy."
After hearing that, she silently turned her face away and curled her lips in disdain. Nadine thought Brad was a shameless man who was always spouting nonsense. He was all talk and no action. She couldn't believe that he was lying to a child right then and there.
By the time the family event ended, it was already past noon. Brad took Sean's hand and helped him into his one-of-a-kind Aston Martin without sparing a glance at Nadine.
He settled Sean on his lap and browsed the buffet menu of the Majestic Horizons Hotel on his phone, confident that Nadine would get in his car. Sean was in his grasp, after all. Where could she possibly go?
The driver held the car door open for Nadine, ensuring she was safely inside before taking his seat behind the wheel and driving off.
…
Besides the flood of comments, a poll had been created online: "Do you support Nadine and Brad getting back together?" There were two options: "Yes" or "No". The results were staggeringly in favor of "Yes", outnumbering "No" by more than tenfold.
However, the very people involved had no idea what was happening on the internet. Nadine was still sulking through lunch with Brad at the Majestic Horizons Hotel.
Since it was a buffet, all she had to do was grab a plate and load it with the food she liked. Nadine busied herself serving Sean food, focusing all her attention on him while ignoring Brad. Her decision not to argue with him in public was her way of showing him respect.
Since he was ignoring her, she decided not to speak to him either. It was the best outcome for both of them. If he dared to make any snide remarks, she would not hesitate to fire back. She wasn't going to indulge him.
The dining hall was filled with laughter and chatter at every table except theirs. Not a word was exchanged between the two of them. They didn't even share a glance.
