Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 209

Lydia followed Mr. Jefferson into the courtyard and was instantly struck by how open and peaceful everything felt. The air was soft and fragrant with all kinds of flowers and fruit trees. In the middle of the courtyard, a little pond sparkled, reflecting the sky and the old, charming buildings that surrounded them. It all felt so calm, almost like she’d stepped into another world.

As they walked deeper into the estate, Lydia took in the different buildings, each with its own distinct style and personality. Mr. Jefferson kept glancing at her, clearly eager to see her reaction. When he noticed her looking around, he spoke up quickly. “Lydia, the house is pretty old. If you don’t like it, we can just knock it down and start fresh.”

He grinned, almost mischievous. “If you want a mansion, we’ll build a mansion. If you’d rather have a little villa, we can do that too. If there’s anything you don’t like, just say the word, and we’ll fix it.”

Some of the staff nearby exchanged awkward glances, but didn’t say a word. Lydia could almost hear their thoughts. “This was the family’s ancestral home. Just tearing it down? That felt almost unthinkable.”

She didn’t know whether to laugh or be shocked. “It’s beautiful just as it is,” she said, feeling a little overwhelmed.

The buildings really did remind her of a royal garden, elegant and peaceful. She could tell some parts had been renovated over the years. There were buildings with wooden beams and gray tiles on the roof, giving off that traditional, timeless vibe. Others were made of brick and stone, with beautiful carvings on the walls that made them look grand and stately.

There were big common areas like living and dining rooms, a cozy study, and more private spaces for bedrooms, the kitchen, and storage. Every inch of the place felt both dignified and incredibly warm, like a real home where people actually lived and laughed. It wasn’t just a house; it felt like somewhere you could actually relax and let your worries fade away.

Mr. Jefferson looked pleased. “So, does that mean you like the style?” His eyes sparkled with hope.

Lydia hesitated. The question felt loaded, and she worried that saying she liked it might make him read too much into things. After all, she had barely stepped inside, and he was already talking about tearing down walls for her.
