Ready to Rule: The Real Heiress Strikes Back novel Chapter 364

Lydia was well aware of how touchy Connor’s identity was. The way the Black Eagle guys reacted earlier made it pretty clear they’d figured out who he was.

Sure, maybe they wouldn’t pick a fight with him to his face, but you never knew where the real danger was hiding. Even if Connor was retired now, in their eyes, he’d always be on the other side.

Whatever happened, he needed to stay at Mount Gemspire.

“No way. I’m not letting you go alone,” Connor said, his tone stubborn.

Lydia just shook her head. “Relax. I’m going there to help them out. They won’t lay a finger on me.”

“I’ll go with you,” he said, not backing down.

She softened her voice. “I know you’re worried, but if you come, it’ll just make everything messier. I’m only going to check on the patient, then I’ll come back and start working on the antidote. It won’t take me long, I promise.

You should take some people and head up the mountain to look for Vision Rejuvenation Grass. When I get back, we can pick it together and make the medicine.”

Connor looked like he wanted to argue, but Lydia spoke up before he could. “Just listen to me this time, okay? If you keep pushing, I’ll get mad.”

He saw she meant business, so he gave in, but only a little. “I’ll have Damien go with you. Take some more people, just in case.”

Lydia nodded. “That’s fine.”

Scar, one of the Black Eagle guys, didn’t look convinced. “Miss, you really know medicine? You can actually help us?”

He was clearly worried this was just some trick to snoop around their turf.

Lydia shot him a teasing look. “What, are you scared?”

Scar let out a nervous laugh. “I’m just worried you might not be able to help. If something goes wrong, I’ll get blamed.”

“I’m willing to try. Are you brave enough to take me?”

“You… just you?”
